Measure J Forums
The college is seeking input from the campus community and the community at-large at a series of open forums. The campus community forum will be on Oct. 20 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and the community at-large forum will be on Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Both forums will be in Building 200, Rooms 224-228. Members of the campus community are welcome to attend either meeting. Additional information about Measure J, the NOCCCD Citizens' Oversight Committee and facilities planning can be found on the district website at the webpage located here. For any specific questions on this topic or to learn more, feel free to contact a member of the NOCCCD Citizens' Oversight Committee. Fullerton College has three representatives who serve on the NOCCCD Citizens' Oversight Committee: Interim President Greg Schulz, Vice President of Administrative Services Richard Storti and Student Representative Charlene Egizi.
 

President's Office Hour and Forum
Interim President Greg Schulz will be hosting an open office hour on Oct. 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the President's Office. The President Open Forum will be today from 2 to 3 p.m. in Building 200, Room 224. Both of these events encourage the campus community to meet with the interim president and discuss any questions, concerns, etc.

Bordertown Screening with Q&A
On Oct. 23, the English Department will host a screening of the upcoming Fox show Bordertown. This animated comedy takes a look at two culturally different families living near the U.S.-Mexican border. Following the screening, consulting producer Gustavo Arellano will be available for a Q&A session. This event is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. in Building 1400, Room 1413.
Transfer Awareness Week Kicks Off Oct. 19
Centered on the theme of preparing and motivating students to consider their transfer options to a four-year university, the Transfer Center will host this fall's Transfer Awareness Week, October 19 - 23. Read more...

Fullerton College Victorious at 'Three for Free' Individual Events Tournament
Fullerton College was victorious at the "Three for Free" individual events tournament hosted by Irvine Valley College on Oct. 16. In an event that included both informative and persuasive speeches, FC students finished first, second, and third. Andrea O'Loughlin earned a first place gold medal, Brandon Curington earned a second place silver medal, and Octavio Jaramillo earned a third place bronze medal. Fullerton College now prepares for our "Halloween Swing" Debate Tournament on Oct. 30 and 31.

The Politics of Latina Reproduction and Immigration/Citizenship Discourse
This lecture focuses on the hotly debated topic of politics of immigration, citizenship and Latinos in America. Dr. Leo Chavez is a professor of anthropology at University of California, Irvine and director of the Chican@ Latino Studies & Center for Research on Latinos in a Global Society. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of this lecture scheduled for Oct. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Campus Theatre.

Sociology Club Animal Shelter Donation
The Sociology Club is collecting new items for rescue animals in need. This collection runs through Oct. 27, the drop-off box is located in Building 1400, Room 1423. For information, contact Angie Andrus by email at aandrus@fullcoll.edu.

Uncover the Secrets to Networking Online
As part of the Business and CIS Division's Brown Bag Speaker Series, this event focuses on networking on LinkedIn. Learn why LinkedIn is useful to make meaningful connections and how to build a strong profile. Master effective networking without awkwardness and understand networking etiquette online and in person. Christine Moore will be leading this discussion on Oct. 20 from 5:30 in Building 300, Room 327 and on Oct. 21 from 1:30 p.m. in Room 322. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page.

VRC: Improve Research Skills and CSUF Presentation
On Oct. 21 from 2 to 3 p.m., in the Library, Room 827, veterans will have the opportunity to join a research instruction session to improve information-seeking skills. On Oct 22 from 9 to 11 a.m., in Building 500, Room 518, CSUF ambassadors will cover requirements and campus highlights for programs at CSUF. For more information, visit the VRC website.

Substance Abuse Awareness Day Fair
The fair is on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Quad. Health Services and Student Affairs will present this fair with entertainment, information and refreshments with local organizations. Some of the organizations participating include Al-Anon Family Groups, Food Addicts in Recovery, OC Health Care Agency, America on Track, MADD, Alcoholics Anonymous and more. Fall Choral Concert Oct. 23
The award winning Fullerton College Concert Choir will present a concert of exciting choral literature from the Renaissance to the present. This concert will be in the Wilshire Auditorium on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children, seniors and students.

Symphonic Winds Oct. 29
This concert, directed by Anthony Mazzaferro, is on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children, seniors and students.

Athletics at Fullerton College
Football
The Hornets retained the key for the ninth consecutive year during the 93rd Annual Key to the County Game this past Saturday at Yorba Linda High's Nathan Shapell Stadium. FC beat Santa Ana College 20-14. Members of the 1965 Junior Rose Bowl National Championship team were honored at halftime to observe the 50th anniversary. Read more... Up Next: The Hornets (4-3, 1-2) will travel south to the San Diego area to play Grossmont College on Saturday, October 24th. Kickoff will be at 1:00 pm.

Women's Volleyball
The Lady Hornets swept through visiting Santa Ana College three games to none in the South Gym on Friday night (25-12, 25-10, 25-15). Up Next: Fullerton (9-4, 4-1) travels to Saddleback College on October 21. Game time is at 6 p.m.

Cross Country
The FC men's team placed eighth overall at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational last Friday. Up Next: The Orange Empire Conference Championships on October 30 at 9 a.m.

Women's Soccer
The FC women's soccer squad won big at home Friday over Norco College 4-0. Up Next: The Lady Hornets (5-7-2, 4-4-1) will play at Orange Coast College's LeBard Stadium on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
