Earthquake Drill Set for Oct. 15
Fullerton College will be among thousands of schools and businesses across California who will participate in the Great ShakeOut Drill on Oct. 15. The earthquake and emergency preparedness drill is an opportunity for the campus to review earthquake drill procedures, test the emergency communications system, and practice evacuation protocols to ensure students and staff are well prepared for a major earthquake or disaster. More than 200 people from Fullerton College joined community colleges from across the country in a national moment of silence for Umpqua Community College at the flagpole on the quad on Oct. 8. Read more...

A.S. CareBank is Looking for Donations

Transfer Awareness Week Kicks Off Oct. 19
Centered on the theme of preparing and motivating students to consider their transfer options to a four-year university, the Transfer Center will host this fall's Transfer Awareness Week, October 19 - 23. Read more...

Students to Host Vigil Thursday 
The campus is invited to a vigil in honor of Umpqua Community College on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in the quad. The event is organized by Student Trustee Francisco Aviles Pino with students from STOMP, Latina Leadership and the Fullerton College Dream Team. 

Puente Project Hosts Annual Mentor & Student Dinner

Fullerton Debaters Capture the Bronze
Kitiny Phumchun and Zach Turner captured bronze medals during Friday's National Parliamentary Debate Association Tournament hosted by Irvine Valley College. Teammates Rohan Shah and Iris Chu narrowly missed elimination rounds, finishing with a 2-2 record. Topics included policy towards ISIS, the California drought, and teacher tenure. Fullerton competes this coming week again at an IVC-hosted Individual Events Tournament.

DSS Sees Candy Fundraiser
The Disability Support Services office is selling See's Candy to raise money for DSS spring scholarships. To place an order, pick up a form from the DSS Office in Room 842 or download the form. The deadline for orders is Nov. 6, and the candy will be delivered the last week of November. For any questions, call ext. 27099.

School's First to be on Campus
Schools First will be on campus in Room 229 on Nov. 2 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. They will have information about loans, summer saver accounts, school employee credit cards, retirement plans and more. There will also be an opportunity drawing for the first 25 people.

eLumen Workshops
This week's offerings are as follows: On Oct 12 from 1 to 2 p.m., there is a workshop on strategies to get adjunct faculty involved in the assessment process followed by drop-in help from 2 to 3 p.m. On Oct. 16 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., there is a workshop on accreditation discussion and the use of eLumen for CSLO and ISLO reports followed by drop-in help from 2:30-3:30 p.m.  

Program Review Workshops for Non-instructional Programs
Non-instructional program review is just around the corner. The list of areas undergoing program review, templates, handbook and guides are available at programreview.fullcoll.edu. For any questions or help with self-studies, members of the Program Review Committee will be available in the TEC. The times are Nov. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. with Jan Chadwick, and Nov. 3 and 5 from noon to 2 p.m. with Lisa Campbell.

Classified Award Nominations
Recognize outstanding classified staff by submitting a classified recognition nomination for the Fall 2015 semester. All nominations are due on or before Oct. 23, at 5 p.m. The winner of the Fall award will be announced at the Classified Senate Meet and Greet event on Nov. 10, 2015. Twelfth Night Oct. 8-17
Twelfth Night, directed by Professor Tim Espinosa will be performed on Oct. 8 to 10 and Oct. 16 to 17 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theatre. Tickets during presale will bet $12.50 and tickets at the door will be $15.

Football
The Hornet football team turned up the heat at home against Riverside City College burning the Tigers 52-21. Up Next: The Hornets (3-3, 0-2) will host Santa Ana College for the 93rd Key to the County Game on Oct. 17. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. Come on out and support your Hornets, plus the 1965 Hornet Team will be honored at half time celebrating the 50th anniversary of their National Title.

Women's Water Polo
The Lady Hornets got back on track winning four straight games at the Ventura Tournament over the weekend. On Friday, FC brought down Mt. SAC 16-9 and Santa Monica 15-4. On Saturday, Fullerton swept through Santa Barbara 15-2 and then Chaffey 17-5 to win the tournament. Up Next: FC (14-2, 2-0) will host Cypress College on Oct.15 at 3 p.m. 

Women's Soccer
The FC women's soccer team got one by Santa Ana College 1-0 on a hot Friday afternoon earning another Orange Empire Conference win. The lone goal on the day came from Hornet sophomore Crystal Foutris at the 30-minute mark in the first half. Channing Cordova broke free shooting the ball at Don goalie Joey Martinez. Martinez made a great play blocking the ball, but Foutris came in on the follow-up striking the ball into the net. Up Next: The Hornets will play at Cypress College this Tuesday, October 13 at 3 p.m.

Men's Soccer
The Hornets took one on the nose at Cypress on Friday falling 5-1 to their district rival. Up Next: FC (2-7-2, 0-2-2) will look to grab at win tomorrow when the host Norco College for another conference match-up. Game time is at 3 p.m.

Women's Volleyball
The Hornets rallied on the road to pull off a grueling five-set win over the Orange Coast Pirates Friday night 3-2: 27-29, 17-25, 28-26, 25-17, 15-13. Up Next: Fullerton will play at Irvine Valley College (6-3, 3-0) on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.

Cross Country
The FC men's team placed eighth overall out of 11 teams at the Brubaker Invitational last Friday. Pablo Perez placed 14th out of 94 runners with a finish of 22:31.48 (4 mile run). The FC women's team took 9th place overall. Andrea Mendez took 10th overall out of 73 runners with a time of 20:59.40. Up Next: The Mt. SAC Invitational is on Oct. 16 at 10 a.m.
