Fullerton College will help celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of events and workshops that honor the contributions, struggles and successes of the Hispanic/Latino community. LiveWire Open for Submissions Fullerton College's literary/arts journal LiveWire is now accepting submissions for its Spring 2016 issue. Creative works including writing, music, spoken word and artwork are being accepted from everyone in the Fullerton College community. Suicide Prevention and Awareness Presentation

Club Rush will be on Sept. 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. on the Quad. FC clubs and organizations will have tables promoting themselves along with other student activities.

Nutrition Info. Tables
The Health Services Office is inviting the campus to learn more about choosing healthy options and nutrition. On Sept. 16 visit the Quad from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to meet with a nutritionist from St. Jude Medical Group and learn more about CalFresh, California's supplemental nutrition program.
VA Benefits Presentation
The Veterans Service Office is hosting a VA Benefits Presentation in the VRC, Building 500, Room 518 on Sept. 15 from 10 to 11 a.m. They will present information about applying for Services Connection of disabilities, Voc. Rehab & Employment, Ch. 31 and more.

OCTA Offers Discounted Student Bus Passes
Students enrolled in nine or more units at Fullerton College can save time and money by purchasing a college bus pass at a discounted price from the Bursar's Office to use on Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) buses throughout the semester. OCTA offers students several options to encourage the use of public transportation and reduce parking congestion on campus. Read more...
Transfer Center: Scholarship Opportunity, Workshops and Saturday Hours
On Sept. 17 from 2 to 3 p.m., the Transfer Center will host a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship information seminar. This scholarship is for community college students seeking to complete their bachelor's degree at a four-year university. Providing up to $40,000 per year, it is the largest private scholarship for community college transfer students in the country. Other workshops this week include Are You Ready to Apply? on Sept. 16 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and After You Apply - Next Steps on Sept. 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. All workshops take place in the Transfer Center, Building 200, Room 212. RSVPs are required for workshops; contact the Transfer Center at 714-992-7086 or visit Room 212 for more information. The Transfer Center will also be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Showcasing a body of work both broad in scope and stunning in its beauty, the Fullerton College Art Collection exemplifies what a college art collection should be: educational, inspirational, and have the ability to move us all. Gallery hours for the collection are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 4 p.m. Special evening hours will be on Sept. 9, 15 and 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Football
After suffering a painful opening-day loss, the Hornets valiantly bounced back this week beating last season's state champion Mt. San Antonio Mounties 36-30 in overtime. The Hornets would end up on top scoring the game-winning touchdown on a 25-yard strike from quarterback Trey Tinsley to wideout Ryan Markush. Read more... Women's Water Polo
The Lady Hornets began the season much the same as last by going undefeated at the Saddleback College Invitational. The tournament began on Friday with FC beating Rio Hondo College 20-4 and Palomar College 18-3. On Saturday, Fullerton knocked off the host Saddleback College 18-5 and then beat Grossmont College 12-6 to win the tourney championship. Up Next: FC (3-0) will host Saddleback on September 16 at 3 p.m.
Men's Water Polo
The FC men's water polo team opened up the season with some big wins. Last Wednesday, Fullerton hammered El Camino 25-4, and then over the weekend at the Palomar Tourney they beat Santa Monica 21-14 and Ventura 15-7. Their hot-streak came to an end on Saturday when they faced Mt. SAC falling 15-6. They also lost to Ventura 14-6. Up Next: Fullerton (3-2) will host Saddleback on September 16 at 4 p.m.
Cross Country
Both the men and women's teams placed seventh overall at the Palomar Invitational that was held at Guajome Park in Oceanside last Friday. Up Next: Fullerton will compete in the SoCal Preview at Mission Bay Park in San Diego on September 18 at 11 a.m.
Women's Soccer
The Lady Hornets lost a tough one in the heat on Friday to Rio Hondo College 3-1. Up Next: FC (0-3-1) will play at Norco College on September 15 at 3 p.m.
