FC Celebrates May 22 Commencement

Fullerton College will celebrate the graduating class of 2015 with a record 11.2 percent increase in degrees awarded as compared to last year. The 100th Commencement ceremony will take place on May 22 at 6 p.m. at the Fullerton Union High School Stadium. Read more...

 

Jensen Receives Above and Beyond Award

Dean of Fine Arts Robert "Bob" Jensen was honored at the North Orange County Community College Board meeting on May 12 with the Chancellor's Above and Beyond Award. The accolade is a new honor instituted this year that recognizes employees who execute an act of extraordinary achievement in service to the district. Read more...

 

Students Take Top Honors

Bryan J. Stoker was named Man of the Year and Yicheng (Eva) Zhang was named Woman of the Year at the the Men and Women of Distinction banquet on May 8. They were selected among 30 Men and Women of Distinction honorees. Men and Women of Distinction recipients represent the top scholars of the college, as well as students who have distinguished themselves in such diverse fields as fine arts, athletics, student government and service to the college and/or community. In addition, Vincent P. Tran and Charmaine S. Chiang both received the Outstanding Service to the College Award.

STEM Event Draws 300

Seventh- through 12th-grade students participated in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Youth Conference on May 9 at Fullerton College. The conference drew about 300 students and parents who participated in workshops, interactive demonstrations, and heard from a wide variety of presenters. Read more...

Open House for President Vurdien

Faculty and staff are invited to an Open House honoring President Vurdien for his service at Fullerton College. This Open House, hosted by vice-presidents Savannah Jones, José Ramón Nuñez and Richard Storti, will be on May 21 from 1-3 p.m. in Building 100, President's Reception Area. Light refreshments will be served.

Staff Appreciation Lunch Set for May 27

The annual Fullerton College Classified Staff Appreciation Lunch will take place May 27 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Campus Center Dining Hall. Staff will be treated to hamburgers and hot dogs, and vegetarian options will be provided. In addition, managers will be bringing in side dishes and desserts and will serve lunch. Applied Piano Recital May 19

Piano music majors and Certificate of Piano Teaching students will perform their prepared pieces during this recital. This event will be in the Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m., admission is free.

  

Jerry's Kids FC Brass Ensembles May 20

Brass Choir, French Horn Club, Student Brass Quintets, Trombone Choir and Barbershop Brass Singers perform music from classical to pop genres. Admission is $5, and the event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall.

Athletics at Fullerton College

Women's Track & Field 

FC's own Jasmine Williams maintained her first day lead in the heptathlon to win the state title handily with 4,620 points over the weekend. Williams broke her own school record and three (100M Hurdles, Shot Put, and 200M) of the seven events were personal records. This score currently ranks her fifth in the nation and gave the Hornets their first All-American athlete in the state championships.The second FC athlete to earn All-American honors was Fanny Giron. She ended her season on a high with running her fastest 400 meter of the season and took third overall. Deajah Stevens led wire to wire in the 400 meters, taking a convincing victory in CSM stadium record 53.88, ahead of Doshawn Franks (55.88) of West Los Angeles followed by Giron (56.15) of Fullerton. Andrea Mendez competed in the 1500 meter event. She currently holds this school record. She crossed the line in 11th place for her final time of 4:47.13. These women scored 16 points for the team and finished in 20th place out of 40 California community college teams. 

 

Hall of Fame Ceremony a Big Hit

The 6th Fullerton College Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony took place at the FC Student Center Hall on Friday night as 12 new Hornet inductees were honored for their achievements. Read more...
