Athletic Hall of Fame
The Fullerton College Athletic Hall of Fame was established by the Hornet Heritage Foundation in 2005 to preserve and celebrate those coaches, student athletes and supporters who have excelled at making FC one of the top colleges in the nation with nearly 100 years of competition. The sixth year of the induction dinner will take place on May 15 at 6 p.m. To find out more about the inductees and purchasing tickets, visit the Athletics website event page.
Habits of Mind: Mindfulness
The campus community is invited to a group discussion on the role of mindfulness. This discussion includes an overview of recent research in mindfulness, student experiences with mindfulness exercises and sample mindfulness practices. Presented by Deidre Hughes and Tamara Trujillo, the workshop will take place on May 5 at 4 p.m. in room 229.
Love Fullerton Open to Volunteers
Volunteer for the 2nd annual Love Fullerton community service event on May 9 and receive a free Fullerton College baseball hat! Open to all staff or students of Fullerton College. Just bring a printed receipt registered at www.lovefullerton.org along with staff/student ID and visit the Office of Campus Communications in Building 100 to pick up your ball cap!

STEM Youth Conference this Weekend
This conference is designed for 7-12 graders and their parents to explore the world of STEM and meet role models who have overcome difficulties and succeeded in their lives. The conference will be on May 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Dining Hall.

Fullerton College Students Succeed at Renewable Energy Projects
The Metropolitan Water District's third annual ECO Innovators Showcase competition, part of Metropolitan's eight annual Spring Green Expo was on April 30 in Los Angeles. The FC team consisting of Maria Palaez and Dailyn Rodriguez, won second place in the team category on their 'Baby Steps' to Turf Replacement presentation.

Revised: Chancellor Finalist Open Forums
Open forums will be held at Cypress College and Fullerton College on May 12. Questions from the audience are encouraged and comment cards will be available at the forums to provide feedback for the Board of Trustee's consideration. The afternoon forum times have been revised: Fullerton College, room 224-8, Mark Rocha will be at 1:30 p.m., George Railey will be at 2:30 p.m., Monte Perez will be at 3:30 p.m., and Andrew Jones will be at 4:30 p.m. View the flyer online for complete dates and times and post-forum survey information.

Robotics Team Wins First Place
The quadcopter team of the FC robotics team competed in the OC Fair's Rescue Robots competition. They won first place in aerial design and first place overall. This was the team's first competition and their trophies are on display in the Office of Special Programs, room 225.
Coffee with Chancellor and Trustees
This event is an informal gathering for the campus community to ask questions and have a dialogue with board members and the interim chancellor. This event will be held on May 11 from 9-10 a.m. in room 227.
Cinco de Mayo Celebration
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the Ethnic Studies Department. Students from M.E.C.H.A. will be hosting a visual table display and selling tamales to raise funds for the ethnic studies department on May 5 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on the quad.
Fullerton Debaters Win Big at 209th CSUF Blumer Forensics Tournament
Michael Wu and Zach Turner led a 1-2-4 Fullerton College finish at the 20th CSUF Blumer Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament May 2. They and the team of Sarah Benedict and Kenneth Baer closed out finals, with Wu and Turner prevailing in a close final debate. Rohan Shah and Alexander Antonowitsch finished a strong fourth overall. In sixth was the team of Samantha Banuelos and Grecias Sales. They were followed by two other Fullerton teams: Rachel Romo and Jamie See (seventh), and Adrian Abundes and Rodrigo Dimas (eighth). The debaters also placed high in top-speaker awards, with Turner (third), Wu (fourth), Baer (fifth), Benedict (sixth), Romo (seventh), and See (ninth) all placing in the top 10 speakers.

VRC Events in May
This week there are several events happening at the Veterans Resource Center. The Veterans Club is meeting on May 6 from 1-2 p.m. in room 518. On May 6, Julie Davey, jdavey@fullcoll.edu, hosts a Writing for Wellness Workshop at the Mission Hospital Conference Center from noon-2 p.m. On May 9, volunteers are needed for the Love Fullerton event starting at 8 a.m. Finally, priority registration starts on May 5, new and returning students must have completed the three steps for receiving priority registration. Reminder: Transfer Celebration
This event will be on May 21 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Dining Hall. Interested students should RSVP to the Transfer Center.
Fexo 101
This workshop, hosted by the printing department, will provide attendees fundamental knowledge of the flexographic printing process. Attendees will receive understanding of how flexography works in the printing industry and all the elements required for a company to produce a finished product including layout, trapping and distortion, plate-making, proofing, ink maintenance, press operation, die-cutting and quality control. This workshop is on May 15 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the printing department. View the informational flyer.
Solidarity Politics for Milennials
This event is today from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in room 1440. Solidarity Politics for Millennials argues that we face a 21st century Oppression Olympics: a political framework that encourages competition instead of solidarity among folks of all ages and backgrounds to turn us in the direction of liberty and justice for all. Instead of rehashing the same old problems, author Ange-Marie Hancock offers a solution-solidarity-and an approach-intersectionality-for change we can achieve
Reminder: Historically Black Colleges and Universities
This reception is on May 5 from 1-2:30pm for nine HBCUs that have signed on to the new transfer guarantee agreement. Representatives will be doing on-site admissions at this event.

Student Art Exhibition Through May 14
The Art Department is proud to present the best of student art created at Fullerton College during the 2014 - 2015 academic year. Categories of work in the show include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art and design, stained glass and ceramics. Prizes are awarded for artistic merit. Many works will be available for purchase.
Men's and Women's Chorale May 6
The Men's and Women's Chorale of Fullerton College will present a variety of choral literature, including classical, folks songs, spiritual, musical theatre and barbershop. Tickets for adults are $10, kids are $5, and senior/students are $7.
Symphonic Winds May 7
Directed by Anthony Mazzaferro in the Campus Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults are $10, kids are $5, and senior/students are $7.
Clybourne Park May 7-10
A spin off of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, this razor-sharp new satire takes a jab at race and real estate in a fictional Chicago neighborhood. Act 1 begins in 1959 as a black family moves into a white enclave. Act 2 takes us back to the same house in 2009 as gentrification sets in and the roles are reversed. One agile ensemble of actors play two sets of characters in the play. Tickets for this event are $15 at the door at the Bronwyn Dodson Theatre. Check the link for complete showtimes.
Piano Ensemble Recital May 7
Directed by Monica Lee, this concert will present piano music majors and Certificate of Piano Teaching students playing their prepared pieces. This event is free.

Baseball
It took a total of two games and 25 innings, but the Hornets did what they had to do against Cypress College to advance in the SoCal Regionals. Read more... Up Next: The Hornets will play at Santa Barbara City College (30-8) May 8-10 in a best two-out-of-three series in round two of the SoCal Super Regionals. Game one will be May 8 at 2 p.m.
Softball
The Lady Hornets ended their season over the weekend after getting swept by El Camino College two games to none (best of three series) in the first round of the SoCal Regionals. In game one on Saturday, Fullerton lost a close one 2-0 against the Warriors. Then on Sunday, FC could not handle El Camino's offensive power and they fell 8-3. The Hornets had a fine season going 23-18 overall and were ranked eighth in SoCal in March. It was also the first time since 2010 that the team had made the playoffs. The 2010 team made it all the way to the Regional Finals.
Swim & Dive
The Hornets wrapped up their season over the weekend at the State Championships held at East Los Angeles College. The three-day event featured the state's best competition with four Hornets competing among all those that qualified. For the FC men, Joe Babbitt placed twelfth in the 200 freestyle, fifteenth in the 50 freestyle, and thirteenth in the 100 freestyle. Kyle Graves took sixteenth in the 100 breaststroke and eighteenth in the 200 breaststroke. Tom Beckleheimer placed twelfth in the 3-meter diving event. Grabriella Garcia represented the FC women taking tenth place in the 100 freestyle, fourteenth in the 50 freestyle, and twentieth in the 200 freestyle. The state team scores for the Hornets were 29th for the women and 25th for the men.
Women's Track & Field
The Hornets took part in the SoCal Prelims at Cerritos College this past Saturday and served as a qualifying round to the SoCal Championships that will be held next week. Four Hornets qualified. Jasmine Williams will compete in the javelin, long jump, and high jump events. Andrea Mendez will double in the 800m and 1500m races. Fanny Giron will run the open 400m, and teammate Samantha Duong has the 400m hurdles. The Regional Championships will be a qualifying meet for the State meet that will be held on May 15-16 at San Mateo College. Up Next: The SoCal Regional Championships - Field Events begin at noon and the Track Events begin at 2 p.m.
