Worldfest Rescheduled for April 30

Worldfest has been rescheduled due to weather. The new date is April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the quad. Visit the Worldrest website for the latest information.

 

Men and Women of Distinction Announced 

Thirty students who have distinguished themselves and are representative of the top scholars at Fullerton College will be honored at the annual Men and Women of Distinction awards banquet on May 8 from 6-9:30 p.m. in the College Center Dining Hall. Read more...

 

Spring Plant Sale

The Horticulture Department will be having its Spring Plant Sale on May 2 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., May 3 from noon-3 p.m. and May 9 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a large variety of plants to choose from. For more information, visit the Horticulture Department's website.

 

Fullerton Forensics Team Shines at PSCFA Novice Championship

Fullerton College's speech & debate team all came back with awards from this weekend's Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association Spring Novice Championship. On April 25, the debate teams of Alex Antonowitsch and Rohan Shah, and Sarah Benedict and Kenneth Baer, both won their final championship rounds with unanimous decisions to capture PSCFA Gold Medals. Benedict and Jamie See also won top speaker awards. In public speaking events, on April 26 Erin Johnston and Doan Truong both made finals. Erin was fourth in Persuasion, and Doan was fifth in Informative. The speech and debate team now heads to the CSUF Blumer Tournament on May 2.

 

Chancellor Finalist Open Forums

Open forums will be held at Cypress College and Fullerton College on May 12. Questions from the audience are encouraged and comment cards will be available at the forums to provide feedback for the Board's consideration. View the flyer to see the complete schedule.

 

Carousel of Fashion Fashion Show

The Fashion Department at Fullerton College is pleased to announce its spring 2015 fashion show, titled The Carousel of Fashion, on April 28 at 7 p.m. in the Wilshire Auditorium. Admission to the show is free and open to the public. Read more... 

 

Higher Education Night

Parents and students in grades 9th - 11th participated in Fullerton College's Higher Education Night on April 22 as part of the Jump Start to College Program hosted by the Counseling Department. A panel of admissions representatives from Cal State Fullerton, Chapman University, and UCI provided parents with in-depth information on the different higher education systems and what to expect when researching and applying to various colleges and universities.

Classified Employee Recognition Recipient for Spring 2015

Congratulations to Jim McKamy, Campus Safety Officer Coordinator, as recipient for this award. He was honored along with the rest of the nominees at the Classified Senate End of Year event on April 16.

Student Art Exhibition  

Student Art Exhibition April 30-May 14

The Art Department is proud to present the best of student art created at Fullerton College during the 2014 - 2015 academic year. Categories of work in the show include drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital art and design, stained glass, and ceramics. Prizes are awarded for artistic merit. Many works will be available for purchase. The opening reception and awards presentation will be held on April 30 from 5-7 p.m.

 

Dance Concert
 

Fullerton College Faculty Dance Concert May 1-2

This dance concert showcases the talents of faculty, guest and student choreographers. The performance will include various dance genres, such as modern, contemporary, musical theater, middle eastern and jazz. Both shows will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Theatre. General tickets will be $15, students, faculty, staff, seniors, and children will be $10.

 

Applied Voice Recital May 3

Fullerton College Applied Voice students present a Spring Recital. The recital will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Tickets for general admission are $10, children are $5 and students and seniors are $7.

Baseball 

The baseball seedings have been released for the 2015 CCCAA baseball regionals with Fullerton hitting the road against their conference and district rival Cypress College. Read more... Up Next: Fullerton will travel to Cypress for a best of three match-up that will be played on May 1-2 in a best-of-three series, with the winners advancing to round two.

 

Softball

The 2015 California Community College Athletic Association Softball Playoffs seeds have been announced with Fullerton College heading to El Camino College for a first round showdown. Read more... Up Next: Fullerton will travel to El Camino for a best of three match-up beginning May . Game times are 2 p.m. on Saturday, noon on Sunday and 2 p.m. on Sunday (if needed). The winner will advance to the Super Regionals.

 

Women's Track & Field 

Extraordinary Hornet athletes finished second at the Orange Empire Conference Championships this past weekend at Orange Coast College. Riverside wound up winning it all as it came down to the mile relay as the strength of the 1600-meter relay solidified second in that event and helped claim the second place spot for the team. Fullerton compiled 118 points to Orange Coast's 113 points for third. Jasmine Williams scored 52.5 points adding her name to the Hornet history books becoming a champion in the Heptathlon, High Jump, and Javelin. Other FC champions were Fanny Giron for her efforts in the 400-meter and Sammy Duong in the 400-meter Hurdle. Ten Lady Hornets qualified for Southern California Regional Championships in 19 different events to be held at Cerritos College May 2.

 

Men's Track & Field

The Hornets placed sixth overall at the Orange Empire Conference Championships over the weekend with two Hornet athletes qualifying for the SoCal Regionals. Johnny Nava placed third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:09. Braxton Word placed fifth overall in the hammer with a throw 43.33 / 142 feet 2 inches. Braxton will move on to the SoCal Regionals ranked 10th in SoCal and 18th in the state. Brandon Velasco competed in both the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters in back to back weeks placing eighth in both grueling races. Those two races were the largest races of the conference with 21 in the 5000 and 30 in the 10k. He is the second alternate in both races and we'll see if he qualifies later this week.
