Habits of Minds and The Pact

This session will explore how the Habits of Mind helped "The Three Doctors" in The Pact succeed. Attendees will participate in a discussion focused on how specific Habits of Mind influenced the three young men in their difficult road to become doctors. Participants are encouraged to bring their copy of the book. The event will take place on March 18, in room 224-6 from 3:30-5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Sociology Club Animal Shelter Collection 

The Sociology Club is collecting new items for animals in need. The drive will be from March 3-24. Items requested include leashes, collars, toys, dog/cat food, brushes, dog/cat bedding, small/med fleece blankets, cat litter, paper towels, stainless steel non-flip food/water bowls, dog shampoo, etc. Items collected will be donated to the OC Animal Shelter. Extra items will also be donated to the NOCCCD feral cat program and the Taking it to the Streets organization. Donations can be dropped off in the collection box located in room 1423.

 

Fullerton College Participates in STEM Summit

Fullerton College helped educate nearly 2,000 families about STEM-related majors during the inaugural Fullerton STEM Summit on Feb. 24 at Sunny Hills High School.  Read more...

 

Campus Safety Forums Offered

Fullerton College is committed to creating a safe environment for students. In an effort to promote safety and awareness of services on campus, the Campus Safety Department will lead student forums on March 10 and 12. Visit the college's Facebook page for more information.

 

Coffee with Trustees & Chancellor 

The Fullerton College community is invited to Coffee with Trustees & Chancellor on March 16 at 11 a.m. in room 224-226. Cypress College and the School of Continuing Education will also be holding events on April 20 at 3 p.m. in Cypress College's complex room 414 and May 7 at 9 a.m. in Anaheim campus's rooms 105-107.

 

KinderCaminata Volunteer Sign-ups

Participate in this annual event that helps kindergartners and their families realize higher education is a possibility for all. Students, staff and faculty are invited to volunteer, visit the new KinderCaminata website for the sign-up form and details.

Veterans Legal Services Workshop

The Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) is proud to host a workshop to assist veterans with legal matters. This workshop will occur on March 10 at noon in room 518.

Thomas Campbell and artwork

Thomas Campbell is a painter, sculpture, photographer, and filmmaker whose work combines graphic qualities with a rich expressionism to explore essential questions of human nature. Artwork selected for the gallery exhibition will include pieces from private collections as well as new works available for purchase. More information can be found here.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a tribute to the delightfully frothy Broadway musicals of the 1920's but with a contemporary twist. As a traditional song and dance show, the production is a valentine to the glory days of a bygone era of musical theatre.

 

Home Concert March 25

Home Concert
 

On March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wilshire Auditorium, three choirs will perform: Fullerton College Concert Choir, 85 voices; Fullerton College Chamber Singers, 36 voices; and special guests, Azusa Pacific University Chamber Singers, 34 voices. The choirs will sing a wonderful variety of different periods of classical music, folk music, and spirituals. John Tebay will conduct the Fullerton choirs and Dr. Michelle Jensen will be the conductor of the APU Chamber Singers. All three choirs are looked upon as some of the finest collegiate choirs in the United States.

Athletics at Fullerton College

  

Women's Sand Volleyball

For the first time in the history of community college sports, women's sand volleyball teams took to the sand courts and competed this past Friday. Fullerton opened up playing in a three-way match at Golden West College where they split their matches beating Rio Hondo College 5-0 and lost to Palomar 4-1. Up Next: The Hornets (1-1) will play against Mira Costa and Santa Barbara Colleges at Golden West on March 13 at 10 a.m.

 

Baseball

The Hornets took the field at home on Saturday and fell victim to Saddleback College in a 1-0 pitcher's duel. The game was scoreless with two outs in the top of the sixth inning until Gaucho 2B Dylan Diaz singled through the right side giving Jack Kaloogian the opportunity to score the game's only run (unearned). FC starter Kyle Lazcano (3-2) tossed a strong game going 6.1 innings with 5 hits against, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout. RP Nico Castaneda went 1.1 innings with no hits and a K. RP Randall Ortiz logged in 1.1 innings with a hit against and no runs. Up Next: Fullerton will host Riverside City College on March 10 at 2 p.m.

 

Softball

The Lady Hornets had a busy weekend playing a total of four games beginning on Friday when they took on Cerritos College and beat the Falcons on their field 2-1. Later on that day they lost a tough one to Citrus College 4-2. On Saturday, Fullerton hosted a double-header on Hornet Field where they played El Camino and Los Angeles Valley Colleges. In game one, FC knocked off the El Camino in a tight battle 4-3. In the second game of the day, Fullerton made quick work of  L.A. Valley beating them 7-0. Up Next: The Hornets (12-6, 4-3) will host district rival Cypress College on March 11 at 3 p.m.

 

Swim & Dive 

The Hornets competed at the Chaffey College Invitational this past weekend with the men taking fifth place overall and the women placing seventh. FC men standouts: Joe Babbitt - 1st 50 free; 2nd 100 free; 4th, 400 IM, 5th, 200 IM, Tom Beckleheimer - 3rd, 1m. diving; 4th, 3m. diving,  Kyle Graves - 9th, 200 IM; 7th, 100 Freestyle; 9th, 400 IM. FC Women Standouts: Gabi Garcia - 2nd in 50 + 100 freestyle; 5th, 200 IM; 6th, 200 butterfly; 5th, 100 backstroke, Robyn Goss - 5th, 100 butterfly; 9th, 100 freestyle. Up Next: Fullerton will battle against their Orange Empire Conference rivals Orange Coast and Saddleback Colleges at Saddleback on March 13 at 1 p.m.
