Women's Basketball

Fullerton's season continued to spiral out of control at home Friday night getting shelled 63-45 by Santa Ana College. Trying to maneuver for a playoff spot, the loss hurts FC setting their overall record at 15-9 and notching their Orange Empire Conference record under .500 at 4-5. Santa Ana College locked down their second conference win of the season (2-6) and brought their overall record up to 8-16. Up Next: The Hornets hope to put a stop to their slide when they travel to Saddleback College on Feb. 10. Game time is at 7 p.m.

Men's Basketball

The FC men's basketball team fought hard at home against the Santa Ana Dons Friday night, but it was not enough to secure their second Orange Empire Conference when losing to the Dons 73-65. It was a very close contest that featured 8 ties and 7 lead changes. By the end of the half, Santa Ana held a narrow 39-38 lead. In the second half, the game remained close until the 8:59 when SAC began a 10-2 run and never gave up the lead. Up Next: Fullerton (3-21, 1-8) hits the road against Saddleback College on Feb. 10. Tip off is at 5 p.m.

Baseball

The Hornets took Mt. San Antonio into the 10th inning at home on Saturday putting together a 6-5 walk-off win thanks to Julio Rivera's hot bat. Tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 10th, Rivera came up to bat with Huffman on second and Row on first. Ripping the ball to left field, Rivera came through again for the Hornets as Huffman sprinted to home plate for the winning run. Rivera was a one-man wrecking crew for Fullerton going 4-6 at the plate with 5 RBIs. Up Next: The Hornets (5-0) will host Southwestern College on Feb. 10. The first pitch goes out at 2 p.m.

Softball

The Lady Hornets lost at Mt. San Antonio 12-9 last Friday night. FC was up 9-6 heading into the 6th, but the Mounties bat got hot as they blasted in 6 unanswered runs to take the game. Up Next: Fullerton (2-2) will visit their district and conference rival Cypress College on Feb. 11. Game time is at 3 p.m.

Track and Field

The Lady Hornets opened up their 2015 Track and Field season on Feb. 6 at home at Sherbeck Field. It was perfect weather for all athletes involved and a great day to compete with a double dual meet competition against Orange Coast College and Santiago Canyon College. The ladies claimed their first win against the Hawks with a score of 77-46 and fell to the Pirates 61-80 points. On the men's side, Braxton Word notched up his first colligate win in the discus and a pair of strong 2nd place finishes in the Javelin and Shot Put. Other outstanding performer in the field events was Zedric McGee's 2nd and 7th place in the High Jump and Long Jump respectively. On the track Brendan Bartunek had a strong showing in the 400 meters placing 3rd and 8th in the 200 meters. Distance runner Brandon Velasco opened his season with a solid performance as he placed second in the 3000 meters behind a strong OCC runner. Next up for the Hornets in two weeks is a double dual meet against Saddleback, Golden West. Hosted at OCC on Feb. 20.
