6th Annual French Film Festival
The Humanities Division is proud to present the 6th annual French Film Festival. The festival showcases three award-winning French films over the course of three evenings in February. All movies will be shown at the Wilshire Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6.50 each. Films slated for presentation are Sleepless Night on Feb. 25, Haute Cuisine on Feb. 26, and Amélie on Feb. 27. The Exonerated with Guest Speaker Thomas Goldstein
The Political Science Department is hosting a viewing of The Exonerated and a discussion with guest speaker, Tom Goldstein. Goldstein spent 24 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit before being released. The event is free and will be located in room 1440 on Feb. 9 at 3:30 p.m. For more information contact Jodi Balma at 714-992-7522.
Admissions and Records Implements QLess To reduce long waits and serve students better, the Admissions and Records Office is now using a virtual line service called Qless. There are two ways to join the line: login to the kiosk at the front counter or text the letters FCA to 1-310-494-2718. When the student reaches the front of the line, they will receive a text message alerting them to come to the front counter for assistance.

The Meeting
The community is invited to a stage reading of The Meeting: a Dialogue on Ideology and Purpose at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16 at the Wilshire Auditorium.
The Meeting depicts the supposed meeting of two of the most important men of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems, both prepared to die for their beliefs but neither aware of how soon their assassins' bullets would await them. Spring Convocation Recap
Faculty and staff gathered for the Spring 2015 Convocation on Jan. 23. President Rajen Vurdien led the ceremony with a special tribute to retiring Chancellor Ned Doffoney. Dr. Deborah Harrington, executive director of California Community Colleges' Success Network, gave the keynote address on ways faculty and staff can utilize Habits of Mind to create a better learning environment for students. A special thank you to Chancellor Doffoney, Trustee President M. 2014-2015 Strategic Plan Fund is Now Open
The Strategic Plan Fund is designed to fund district-wide strategic plan objectives/action plans as well as campus strategic plan initiatives. The funds for district-wide and campus strategic plan initiatives will be requested, granted and evaluated using the same process.The funds for the district-wide objectives/action plans and campus strategic plan initiatives will be allocated by the district consultation council. Forms and packets will be available on myGateway. Applications are due Feb. 27 to the Office of Educational Services and Technology.
Basic Skills Office TLC Workshops Available
The Basic Skills Teaching and Learning Certificate program is a staff development program designed to offer faculty and staff an opportunity to learn more about basic skills students, pedagogy and support.This program is open to all disciplines. The information and methods learned in these workshops will be useful to anyone across the campus who teaches or works with students at any level. More information is available online.
Inter-Club Council Food Drive
The Food Bank is accepting donations that will help students on campus. Accepted food items include non-perishable foods, dry goods, and canned goods. The drive will run from Feb. 1 to May 1. For more information contact Student Affairs. View a list of food drop-off locations here.

2015 Innovation Fund Information Sessions Available
The district will host several information sessions on the 2014-2015 Innovation Fund Program. These sessions are offered to provide prospective applicants with information on the guidelines, criteria and procedures of the program, as well as to answer any questions. The first session is on Feb. 2 from 1:30-3 p.m. at Cypress College, CCCPLX, room 414. The next session is Feb. 5, from 9-10:30 a.m., at the Anaheim campus, room 105. The final session will be at Fullerton College, room 229 on Feb. 6 from 9-10:30 a.m. To register, please access the "District Staff Development Calendar", via myGateway on the employee tab. NOCCCD Budget Allocation Model Forum
Learn firsthand how funds are allocated in the district. Explore the ins and outs of the Budget Allocation Model and receive answers for any questions about fiscal distribution. Greetings from the Transfer Center
On Feb. 2, the Transfer Center will begin counseling services. Counseling will be offered on a weekly basis with hours varying through May 8. Monthly hours will be posted on the Transfer Center website, counseling services webpage.
Cadena Cultural Tours
Cadena will be touring the California African American Museum and the University of Southern California on Feb. 27 from 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. USC, located just across the street from the museum, allows the opportunity to have students visit this university. The Fullerton College Art Gallery will host The Natural World through Feb. 19. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. - noon and 2-4 p.m.
A performance of piano duets and duos featuring early-intermediate to collegiate and teacher categories.The festival closed audition will begin around 8 a.m. The circle of winners will be chosen and perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Theater. The grand prize winners will be announced after the performance. Tickets for adults are $10 and students, seniors and children are $8. |
Men's Basketball
The FC men's basketball team came out firing at home knocking off Riverside City College 84-79 for an Orange Empire Conference win. For the first time this season, the Hornets took the lead and held it throughout an entire contest. They opened up with a 9-0 run and never looked back leading by as much as 19 points. Women's Basketball
It has been a rough time for the Lady Hornets as they lost their third consecutive Orange Empire Conference game at home Friday night against Riverside City College 73-41. Before the game began both teams were tied for third place, but now the Fullerton loss sets them back to 14-8 overall and 3-4 in the OEC (4th place). Baseball
Fullerton earned a 2-0 start to the season after beating San Diego Mesa 8-4 at home on Saturday. The Olympians jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Hornets took over the ball game with a six-run explosion in the 2nd inning. Mesa tried to climb back into the game scoring runs in the 5th and 6th innings, but the Hornets ended any threat grabbing those runs back in the 8th inning. The FC softball team won both of their games at the College of the Desert Tournament over the weekend.
