MEASURE J WOULD GENERATE $574 MILLION

This November, voters in the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) will see Measure J on the ballot. If approved it would fund upgrades to antiquated science labs, lecture halls, technology, veteran amenities and instructional equipment to better prepare students for growing fields of study and high-skill careers. Read more...

YOU CAN HELP FIGHT CANCER ON MONDAY: 9/22

City of Hope will host a Be the Match Marrow Donor Registry Drive today until 3 p.m. in the quad outside of the library. Swab samples will be used to identify possible matches for cancer patients needing bone marrow or blood stem cell transplants. City of Hope will be testing anyone between the ages of 18 and 44 years of age. City of Hope was invited to campus by longtime water polo coach Rhett Price. In early July, Rhett's wife Sheri was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Anyone who donates today will be tested as a possible match for Sheri and included in a database of many others needing a donor. Please consider being a donor and encourage students to as well. Learn more on Facebook

CLOSING THE LATINO OPPORTUNITY GAP SUMMIT
Registration is free and open for the Closing the Latino Opportunity Gap Summit, which will take place at Fullerton College on Oct. 17. Closing the Latino opportunity gap requires a community of invested and informed stakeholders, yet few venues exist for open local discussions as to how we can act together to nurture the ambitions and aspirations of our Latino students, regardless of fiscal challenges. The purpose of this summit is to provide a venue to discuss the many ways in which Orange County schools, leaders, teachers, parents, and community partners can act together to close the opportunity gap for Latino students. This day-long summit rotates each year to a different campus in Orange County, and Fullerton College is hosting this year.

STUDY ABROAD ENROLLMENT OPEN

Applications for the Spring 2015 study abroad trip to Rome are being accepted through Nov. 1. This is an exciting opportunity to have an enriching international experience while also earning transferable college credits. The benefits are seemingly endless. Studies show that community college students who go on study abroad trips transfer faster than students who don't go, according to English Professor Doug Eisner, who is also the study abroad coordinator at Fullerton College.
