PHENOMENAL CENTENNIAL GALA!

Saturday's Centennial Gala was a huge success, thanks to months of hard work by Fullerton College's dedicated staff, faculty, students, retirees, and alumni. A special thank you to the Centennial co-chairs, Bob Jensen and Andrea Hanstein, for their outstanding leadership during the entire Centennial celebration. Gala attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner and were treated to spectacular performances by Eden Espinoza, The Alley Cats, Joe Jewell, Jazz Cadre, Jazz Band, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers. It was truly a superb event and all involved in making the evening a success should be incredibly proud of their outstanding achievement.

EARLY COMMITMENT PROGRAM
The Counseling Department's Early Commitment Program has historically been a successful program geared to assist first-time college students from our neighboring high schools. Students are bused to campus on Fridays during the spring semester to help them begin the process of becoming Fullerton College students. This year with changes to priority registration and SB1456, Student Success Support Program Initiative, the Counseling Division was presented with an opportunity to revamp content and pilot new objectives.

On Fridays during the months of April and May, FC counselors, in collaboration with campus support programs, have been facilitating interactive and focused-driven presentations and expediting educational plans for the coming fall 2014 semester. By the end of May, counselors will have helped more than 500 incoming high school students via Early Commitment. "The Counseling Division is committed to fostering an environment where students feel connected to the campus and help support student success by making sure our incoming new students are prepared with a plan, " said Flor Huerta, Early Commitment Coordinator and Counseling Department Chair.

High Schools participating in Early Commitment include: Magnolia High School, Katella High School, Yorba Linda High School, Brea Olinda High School, Savannah High School, Anaheim High School, Valencia High School, La Mirada High School, and Esperanza High School

Against incredible odds, including lack of male role models, substance abuse, and incarcerations, the three now practice medicine.

This selection is appropriate to use in English, Reading, Speech, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Education, Child Development, Psychology, Counseling, and Political Science courses.
