The Student Transfer Opportunity & Mentorship Program (STOMP) at UCLA invites community college students - students of color, low-income, and first generation college-going students interested in pursing higher education in the UC system to attend this conference and learn about strategies and resources for a successful transfer!

If she's not available, please try to book an appointment with Sunshine Vidal or Heather Halverson.  They are wonderful counselors who will help you until Linda's schedule lightens up.

Presale tickets are $7 and must be purchased by Monday, March 31 from:

Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $9.

Associated Students 2014 - 2015 Elections
 
Associated Students is currently accepting applications for 2014-2015 elected positions, including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Student Trustee, Inter-Club Council President, and Senators. Applications are available in the Student Affairs Office.

Applications are due no later than Tuesday, March 25 at 2 p.m.

Elections will take place starting Tuesday, April 8 through Thursday, April 10 on the Quad.

Author and Researcher Dr. Joy DeGruy's Workshop
Nationally renowned author, researcher, and educator Dr. Joy DeGruy will visit Fullerton College on Friday, March 28. Her workshop, Culturally Specific Models of Service Delivery and Academic Practice, will be held in room 224, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
 
Dr. DeGruy's extensive research lays the groundwork for understanding how the past has influenced the many adaptive survival behaviors of African Americans. She is the author of the book Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing.Her workshop couples evidence-based models and culturally responsive intervention approaches. Thus, the values, customs, and traditions that characterize and distinguish different groups of people, become the tools through which to proceed in assisting, supporting and strengthening students towards academic success.

Domestic Violence 101: Prevention through Education

Clothesline Project - Tuesday, April 22

It is an opportunity for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt.  They then hang the shirt on a clothesline in the Quad to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women.

  

 

Walk in Her Shoes - Tuesday, April 22

Once again, the men of Fullerton College -- faculty, staff, and students will be walking in high heel shoes to promote awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault against women.  This is a fundraiser so men will gather pledges for walking the Quad in heels.

 

 

 

Take Back the Night - Thursday, April 24th

Take Back the Night is an annual event, observed throughout the United States as well as internationally, that brings community members together to speak out about sexual violence, relationship violence, and other forms of interpersonal violence. Take Back the Night provides an opportunity for community members to proclaim that each individual has the right to live free from violence and for the voices of those who have been affected by violence to be heard.

Do you have a research assignment looming? Not sure where to begin? This workshop will introduce you to strategies for locating, evaluating, and using effective, reliable, and interesting information from a variety of sources. The emphasis will be on electronic searches using Fullerton College databases and resources.

Do you feel you are always writing the same type of sentence? Are you confused about the differences between adjective clauses and noun clauses? This workshop will show how noun clauses are constructed and used to give your writing more variety.

UCR Summer Research Experience

There is an upcoming summer research experience at University of California Riverside. It will be an excellent opportunity for undergraduates interested in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and/or Materials Science/Engineering.

 

This program will be targeting students from local colleges with the objective of inspiring students from e.g. first-in-the-family-to-attend-college backgrounds towards studies in the sciences and engineering.
