    UCR Summer Research Experience

There is an upcoming summer research experience at University of California Riverside. It will be an excellent opportunity for undergraduates interested in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and/or Materials Science/Engineering.

This program will be targeting students from local colleges with the objective of inspiring students from e.g. first-in-the-family-to-attend-college backgrounds towards studies in the sciences and engineering.

"The Honors to Honors transfer program from Fullerton College to UCI is amazing!  The Honors Program at UCI is called Campus-wide Honors Program (CHP). Benefits include PRIORITY REGISTRATION, private keys to honors study rooms in the library, an extremely involved personal mentor, two counselor support, etc. The funny part about honors to honors is that since you completed your honors courses at Fullerton College you don't have to do anything until senior year at UCI. Senior year, you have to do research and present it; you'll have full CHP staff support and step by step guidance from your research professor.  Not only does research looks EXTREMELY good on a resume, you are probably going to get an amazing letter of recommendation from the professor you are closely working on your research. Go Google CHP, totally worth it!!!

"The Honors Program experience is extremely important and awesome as is but it doesn't just stop when you transfer. Think long term. There is a whole world after you transfer and the Honors Program at Fullerton is a great place to start your first step.

"I had a choice between UCI, UCLA, or UCSD. All offered generous scholarships but I placed my bet on UCI. I had assurances that I would not just survive at UCI, but thrive. During my first quarter at UCI, I was able to obtain two research lab assistant positions, acquired straight A's, and got involved in campus organizations. In all honesty, my experience as AGS President, A.S. Senator, Honors Program student and a private tutor during my time at Fullerton College helped me build self-confidence, people skills, and creative mind to be successful at UCI.

"For Campus-wide Honors Program and Social Ecology Program, I will be conducting my own research, receiving grants to fund my research, and present it in front of critical scholars. I'm doing what I love at UCI because of what I loved doing at Fullerton College.

"If there were something I wished someone had told me before transferring, it would be, "Think long term and look beyond just transferring. You have two to three years of undergraduates left after you transfer, what's your plan after that B.A.?"

"Congratulations on your success at Fullerton College, I wish you many more years of great achievements.

"If you want more of my biased opinion or my personal experience at FC or UCI contact me: [email protected]

    P.S. I am an AB540 student; I welcome any AB540 related questions"
