INFORMATION BOOTHS THROUGHOUT CAMPUS TO SERVE STUDENTS

In an effort to better serve students, Fullerton College is staffing two information booths, one in front of the LLRC and the other north of the 1400 Building. The booths will be staffed Monday - Thursday, 7:30 am - 7 pm. Staff volunteers will be stationed at each booth to assist students.  Volunteers will be responsible for answering general questions and providing assistance to students, and have reference materials and access to a trained staff member should questions arise. It's not too late to volunteer for a shift. To do so, contact your respective dean or manager and they will assist you. Even if you do not volunteer for a shift, please remember to wear your "Welcome to Fullerton College" button. If you do not have a button, please contact the Switchboard.

CAMPUS SAFETY TO BEGIN TICKETING IN ALL LOTS BEGINNING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3
Students may park in student lots without a permit through this Sunday, February 2. Please remind students that parking in staff lots is never permitted. Beginning Monday, February 3, students parked in any lot without a permit will be ticketed. For more information, please contact Campus Safety at extension 27080.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR CENTENNIAL FUTURES CONFERENCE

As part of its year-long Centennial celebration, Fullerton College is presenting a one-day Futures Conference this Friday, January 31 in the Campus Theatre. The event will feature guest speakers, performance artists, and interactive experiences designed to explore visions for the future. Presented in association with Arts Orange County, the nonprofit countywide arts council, the Centennial Futures Conference is intended to help attendees discover new ideas and ways of thinking, to interact with other participants in informal social networking, and to engage them in stimulating discussions. Tickets are available for $50 per person, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and a post-conference reception. An early bird rate of $25 is available through Wednesday, January 29.

Participants include James Mayer, CEO of California Forward; Dr. Brian Kennedy, President of the Buck Institute on Aging; Greg Trimarche, President and Chairman of Clean Tech OC; Martha Montoya, Founder & CEO, Los Kitos Produce and Farms; Alan Tericciano, composer of "Music for House Plants;" and Dan Goods, an artist who serves as Visual Strategist for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Additionally, there will be a presentation by Travis Sims, Education and Technical Trainer at RED Digital Cameras, who will offer attendees a unique hands-on opportunity to interact with what is arguably the gold standard in filmmaking technology today - and manufactured in Orange County.

SCHEDULE A HEALTH SERVICE CLASSROOM PRESENTATION TODAY

Health Services is taking requests for classroom presentations for the spring semester.  The most recent student health survey reveals that only 5% of students know of the services available though the Health Center.

Classroom presentations are usually conducted by a Peer Health Educator and last approximately 15 minutes.  The Peer Health Educator describes the services available at the center, how to access them, and explains any associated fees. To schedule a presentation through the end of February, email John Zolnikov at jzolnikov@fullcoll.edu

TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS DUE FEBRUARY 6
It is again time to submit nominations for the Fullerton College Teacher of the Year. Nomination forms are due no later than Thursday, February 6 to the Student Affairs Office.

Please note that the process remains the same this year, however, due to the Orange County Department of Education's recommendation, Teachers of the Year who have been considered in the County process prior to this year will no longer be considered in future county selection processes.  If the selected nominee has previously won the college honor, the runner-up will be forwarded for consideration.
Fascinating Fact ...

According to The New Yorker, Facebook is blue because founder Mark Zuckerberg is red-green

color blind, which means that blue is the color

he can see best.
