HORNET FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS; HEADS TO SECOND-ROUND OF SOCAL PLAYOFFS

The Hornet football team remained unbeaten after beating College of the Canyon's, 56-17, in the National Bowl. The win advances Fullerton to the SoCal Championship game at Yorba Linda's Shapell Stadium where they will host Riverside. The game takes place this Saturday, November 30 at 1 pm.

The Hornets put the first six points on the board on a nice 16-yard run by RB David Wesley.  On Canyon's first possession, they easily marched down the field inside the Hornet twenty yard line.  Fullerton quickly put a stop to the Cougar drive when DB Alex Bernstein picked off a pass at the one yard line and advanced it to the fourteen.  The Hornets took the ball down the field and scored again on a 1-yard run by RB Nick Norman.  From, there Fullerton took full control of the ball game holding COC to 10 points until the final minutes of the game.

FULLERTON COLLEGE ATHLETICS ROUND-UP

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: The Hornets ended their season in spectacular fashion with a 4th place state finish.  The gap between the 1st and 5th place runner was 27 seconds!  The team left everything they had on the course in Fresno with four girls gaining a personal record, and with the intent to sting like hornets. "Now that we are at the finish line of the season we can cross it with smiles, laughs, wonderful memories, and above all we will always remember Once a hornet, Always a Hornet", claimed runner Elena Estrada.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL:  The Hornets got a ticket to the post season dance with a #8 seed, and they will host Los Angeles Pierce College at 7 pm on Tuesday, November 26 in the South Gym.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Lady Hornets took part in the Glendale College tournament over the weekend.  In game one, FC won their first game of the season knocking off Glendale 60-55.  In game two, Fullerton fell 62-52 to Chaffey College.  The third and final game had FC matched up with Ventura College for a shot at a third place tourney finish.  The Pirates took that game 71-52.  Up Next: Fullerton (1-5 overall) will play again tomorrow night in the South Gym in honor of former coach Colleen Riley in the women's "All-Sports Night" game against Rio Hondo College at 5:30 pm.

Fascinating Fact ...
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more
than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the U.S.
at Thanksgiving. That is one sixth of all turkeys sold in
the U.S. each year.
