HORNET FOOTBALL TEAM ENDS SEASON UNDEFEATED; KEY TO THE COUNTY STAYS IN FULLERTON

The Fullerton Hornet football team remained unbeaten (10-0) by holding off Santa Ana College 56-35 in the 91st Key to the County game.

Fullerton drew first blood scoring the first touchdown of the game on a 37-yard passing TD from QB Jose Escobar to WR Eli Pleasant. FC quickly struck again on a fumble return by DB Alex Bernstein who took it to the house from 60 yards out. Santa Ana never laid down scoring a couple of TDs of their own in the first half, but the Hornets took control of the game maintaining a healthy lead throughout to preserve their perfect season.

The game featured a few broken records, including the record for the highest amount of points in the series with 91 combined points. The previous record was held by three games at 80 points (2003, 2006, 2007).

The stadium was buzzing with excitement as the game also served as the Centennial Homecoming. The stands were full of Hornet supporters from all over, including President Dr. Rajen Vurdien, NOCCCD Chancellor Dr. Ned Doffoney, several NOCCCD Board of Trustees, and former Hornet football players spanning five decades.

Former Hornet Athletic Trainer Bill Chambers was honored at halftime for his 38 years of dedicated service to Fullerton College and the athletic training profession. Hornets and colleagues from all decades and sports came to see Bill receive a bronze plaque with his likeness dedicating the Athletic Training room in his name.

The Hornets will now face College of the Canyons in the first-round of play-offs. The game is scheduled for Saturday, November 23 at 1 pm at Yorba Linda High's Shapell Stadium.

  • Read the Procedures for Professional Activity.
  • Fill out a Professional Activity/Travel Request Form.
  • Submit to the individual's (or group's) Immediate Management Supervisor (IMS) and Dean (if applicable) for approval. The IMS will then send the request to the Staff Development Committee.

A Dissemination Plan is required as part of the application for funds process. This plan needs to show a solid method by which the information gained will be shared to a wide target population. This target population must be identified and a projected timeline must be established as part of the Dissemination Plan. (See Dissemination Plan document)  Priority will be given to requests that are broader in scope than just discipline specific.
