THEATRE ARTS PRESENTING ASSASSINS

The Theatre Arts Department is presenting the American musical Assassins this month. This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience.

From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, Assassins bends the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and in an intense final scene inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

Budget Central

Proposition 98 is a statewide initiative passed in November 1988, and amended in June 1990, which provides a minimum funding guarantee for school districts, community college districts, and other state agencies that provide direct elementary and secondary instructional programs for Kindergarten through grade 14 (K-14). The initiative was a result of 1978's Proposition 13, which limited assessed property taxes to one percent of a home's value in California and thus limited the amount of local funds that could be spent on school districts. Proposition 98 can be suspended by a two-thirds vote of the California Legislature.
