FACULTY PARTICIPATING IN COMMENCEMENT ASKED TO RSVP NO LATER THAN MARCH 15

Each year, Fullerton College faculty are encouraged to participate in Commencement. This year's ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 31 at 6 pm. Those faculty participating must RSVP to Student Affairs no later than Friday, March 15 to be included in the program. Participants are asked to wear formal regalia. Student Affairs will take rental orders through Friday, March 15, from 8 am - 5 pm in the Student Affairs Office. For an order form, email stuaff@fullcoll.edu.   

STAFF ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND ONE OF THREE COFFEES WITH CHANCELLOR AND BOARD
All Fullerton College faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend one of three Coffees with the Chancellor and Board of Trustees. The coffees are scheduled for:
  • Thursday, February 28 at 3:30 pm in Cypress College Complex room 414
  • Monday, March 18 at 10 am in Fullerton College rooms 224/226/228
  • Monday, April 29 at 3:30 pm in Anaheim Campus rooms 105 & 107
The coffees provide an opportunity to ask questions of district leadership in an informal environment. No RSVP is needed.
VIVE LE CINEMA: FRENCH FOREIGN FILM FESTIVAL
Fullerton College, in collaboration with the French American Cultural Exchange Council (F.A.C.E.), is pleased to announce the return of The Tournees Festival. This year's selections include dramas, romance, and comedies:
All movies will be shown in French with English subtitles. Screenings will take place at 7 pm in Fullerton College's Wilshire Auditorium, across from the main campus. Admission is $6.50, and tickets will be available at the door; advance tickets may be purchased from the Campus Box Office.
This Wednesday, February 27 at 12 noon, the Transfer Center is hosting a Transitioning to a University workshop. The event will take place in room 212.

Students who have applied for transfer are encouraged to attend the workshop to learn the steps necessary for a smooth transition to the four-year system. Specific topics covered include post-application deadlines, university orientations, navigating the university system, and minimizing transfer shock.
 
FULLERTON COLLEGE DEBATERS WIN MULTIPLE AWARDS AT SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE
Fullerton College debaters won multiple awards at Friday's Pacific Southwest Conference Forensics Association (PSCFA) spring championship tournament at CSULB.  Steve Hernandez and Ryan Cannon took the gold medal, winning first place in Team Parliamentary Debate. They were the only team at the tournament to have an undefeated record. 
Cannon took another gold medal in winning the first place Debate Speaker's award, and his partner Hernandez took the bronze.

Adjunct Instructor Collette Blumer coached the team to victory at the  tournament, which is one of the largest tournaments in the nation.  Doug Kresse is the Director of Forensics for the entire team. 

Mathematics professor Dana Clahane had a paper appear in Applied Mathematics and Computation, Volume 219, Issue 12, 15 February 2013, Pages 6692-6706. The paper was co-authored with Rene E. Castillo (Colombia), Juan F. Farias Lopez (Venezuela), and Julio C. Ramos Fernandez (Venezuela). 

NOCCCD BUDGET CENTRAL

 This semester, Monday, February 25 is the census date at Fullerton and Cypress Colleges. The State determines that the first Monday of the fourth week of a semester is when instructors must submit attendance figures. These figures are reported to the State using the 320 Report. The state then provides funding based on this information and in accordance with the legislative funding model. This applies to credit classes only.

FULLERTON COLLEGE ATHLETICS ROUND-UP

BASEBALL:  Fullerton College hosted San Diego City College on Saturday and beat the Knights 10-4.  Up Next: Fullerton (7-4 overall) will host El Camino-Compton College on Tuesday, February 26.  First pitch at 2 pm.

MEN'S BASKETBALL:
The Hornets won big over Orange Coast College 101-86 on the road Friday night and may have a chance to make the playoffs.  Keep your fingers crossed as the seeding meeting is being held this afternoon.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:
The Lady Hornets wrapped up a tough season on Friday night losing on the road at Orange Coast College 72-59.  FC finished the season with an overall record of 6-20 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 2-10.

SOFTBALL: 
The FC softball team brought down the Gauchos of Saddleback College on Friday, 9-6.  Up Next: Fullerton (2-7, 1-2) will take on Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa on Tuesday, February 26 at 3 pm.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: 
The Lady Hornets beat Antelope Valley College 8-1 on the road last Thursday in a non-conference match-up.  Up Next: FC (4-2, 1-0) will host Riverside City College on Tuesday, February 26.  Matches will begin at 2 pm.

MEN'S TENNIS:
Fullerton fell 6-3 to Orange Coast College at home on Thursday. Up Next: The Hornets (2-2, 0-1) travels to their district rival Cypress College on Thursday, February 28.  Matches will begin at 2 pm.
