NOCCCD STRATEGIC CONVERSATION: CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES & THE NEW NORMAL

On Tuesday, March 12, at 4:30 pm in room 224, Fullerton College will be hosting the NOCCCD Strategic Conversation #14, Changing the Conversation: California Community Colleges & the New Normal.  During the last few years, California Community Colleges have experienced unprecedented challenges, growth, and rapid change. The Strategic Conversation will examine this historic transformation by discussing:

  1. The Students of the Future
  2. Advances in Technology
  3. The Changing Community College Mission
  4. Workforce Development Issues

Background papers on each of the topics may be found on MyGateway and on the District website. Participants should select two of the four topics to discuss during break-out sessions. Please bring a copy of the articles you've chosen to the event.

All members of the District community, including faculty, staff, and students, are invited to this open dialogue with the NOCCCD Board of Trustees.

Please RSVP by Thursday, February 28 to Melissa Utsuki at 714-808-4831 or publicaffairs@nocccd.edu.
STAFF ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND ONE OF THREE COFFEES WITH CHANCELLOR AND BOARD
All Fullerton College faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend one of three Coffees with the Chancellor and Board of Trustees. The coffees are scheduled for:
  • Thursday, February 28 at 3:30 pm in Cypress College Complex room 414
  • Monday, March 18 at 10 am in Fullerton College rooms 224/226/228
  • Monday, April 29 at 3:30 pm in Anaheim Campus rooms 105 & 107
The coffees provide an opportunity to ask questions of district leadership in an informal environment. No RSVP is needed.
Each Fullerton College faculty and staff member is asked to make at least one Men & Women of Distinction nomination for both a female and a male student who has been particularly outstanding in their field. Students selected receive honorary membership in Mu Omnicron Delta (Men of Distinction) and Alpha Gamma Eta (Women of Distinction) and will be publicly recognized for their achievement at the Men and Women of Distinction Program held later this spring. The nomination deadline is Thursday, February 21. Nomination forms are available in Student Affairs.
CLUB AND COLLEGE INFORMATION DAYS TAKE PLACE THIS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY

This Wednesday, February 13 and Thursday, February 14, from 10am to 1pm, the Associated Students (AS), Inter-Club Council (ICC), and Student Affairs are cosponsoring Club and College Information Days on the Quad.

This two-day event provides an excellent opportunity to share information regarding the various clubs, organizations, departments and divisions on campus. Free food will be given away between 11 am - 1 pm, while entertainment and a pep rally will begin at 11:30 am.

Volunteers are also needed for set-up, serving food and clean up. To sign up, please contact Student Affairs.
NOW AVAILABLE: EASY OFF-CAMPUS ACCESS TO ALL LIBRARY DATABASES
No more library database password sheets needed! Students, faculty, and staff can access all of the library databases from off-campus at http://library.fullcoll.edu/databases.html by logging in with their student or staff ID.

Purchased through a grant from the Fullerton College Foundation, this 21st century proxy server will be an easy adjustment for students and faculty, due to the intuitive design of the log-in screen.
PHOTOGRAPHY INTERN DOCUMENTING CAMPUS LIFE FOR UPCOMING CENTENNIAL

Edgar Lara, photography student, will be taking photos around campus for the library's website, Fullerton College: A Pictorial History. Fullerton Heritage has graciously given the library a stipend to pay for a photography intern who will capture life on campus during spring 2013.

Lara will be photographing events, classes, labs, student services, and all aspects of the college. The library appreciates faculty and staff cooperating with the library's efforts to document campus life for future Fullerton College students, faculty, and staff. Besides adding to the online pictorial history, these photographs will also be archived in the library, including 100 selected photos in hard copy paid by Fullerton Heritage. If you would like to submit a request for the photographer at your event, class, or department, please contact Jane Ishibashi

NOCCCD BUDGET CENTRAL
Budget Central

Q: What exactly is the Governor's January Proposed Budget?

A: The State Constitution requires that the Governor submit a budget to the Legislature by January 10. It provides for a balanced budget in that, if the proposed expenditures for the budget year exceed estimated revenues, the Governor is required to recommend the sources for the additional funding.

The Proposed Budget Summary includes the Governor's goals and objectives for the forthcoming year and highlights significant issues, policies, and initiatives of the Administration reflected in the Governor's Budget.

The Director of Finance, as the chief financial advisor to the Governor, directs the effort for preparation of the Governor's Budget. Under the policy direction of the Governor, the Director of Finance issues instructions and guidelines for budget preparation to agencies and departments. This effort typically gets underway even before the Legislature has passed the budget for the current fiscal year.
