All Fullerton College faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend the upcoming Coffee with the Chancellor and Board of Trustees. The coffee is scheduled for Monday, November 26 at 11 am in rooms 224 & 226
The coffee provides an opportunity to ask questions of district leadership in an informal environment. No RSVP is needed.

PRESIDENT'S OPEN FORUM

In an effort to encourage communication and strengthen teamwork across campus, President Rajen Vurdien has scheduled a series of Open Forums. The next forum is scheduled for Monday, November 19 at 2 pm in room 224. All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

PRESIDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL SUMMARY
|
A summary of the November 14, 2012 PAC meeting follows:
Student Learning - Curriculum - The Curriculum Committee is working hard to add new courses due to the change in regulations regarding repeatability.
Student Learning - SLOs - A handout was distributed that reflects the progress made on course-level and program-level SLOs and SLOAs. This table will continue to be updated and will be included in the ACCJC follow-up report and the SLO report due March 15.
Accreditation - The Recommendation #4 task force will be sending a draft of the follow-up report to the constituency groups. A draft of the Integrated Planning Manual was distributed to all staff last week.
Enrollment Management Plan/Workload Adjustment - Due to the passage of Proposition 30, the college FTES has been increased and additional classes are being added to the spring 2013 schedule.
Research - The Institutional Research Office is finishing the draft of the Institutional Effectiveness Report and working with the PIO on the Annual Report. Their website is under construction. A professional expert will be hired to assist with meeting obligations and research requests.
Strategic Plan/Fullerton College Planning Process - Due to other report deadlines, the college will focus on the Strategic Plan in the spring.
Enrollment Management Committee - A workgroup was formed to discuss the proposed Enrollment Management Committee and make a recommendation to PAC.
Technology Committee - The council shared their feedback on the proposed Technology Committee. Changes will be made to the mission and purpose statement, and a decision will be made at the next meeting.
Changes to the Program Review Committee - The council approved the changes to the mission and purpose statement of the Program Review Committee.

ART GALLERY HOSTING HOLIDAY ART SALE AND EXHIBIT
|
The Fullerton College Art Gallery presents its annual Holiday Art Sale and Exhibit beginning Wednesday, November 28 and continuing through Monday, December 3. The event will include exceptionally crafted fine art and gifts available for purchase in all media created by the Fullerton College faculty, staff, students and local artists. The exhibition will be open during regular gallery hours with evening, and will have special hours on Saturday, December 1 from 11 am - 4 pm. There is no cost for admission to this event.

FULLERTON COLLEGE GOOD NEWS CORNER

Librarian Erica Bennett's 10-minute play "A Waffle Doesn't Cure Insomnia" has been selected for publication in the The Best American Short Plays: 2011-2012 by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books (August 20, 2013). The compilation is slated to include works by John Guare, Neil Labute, and A. R. Gurney, among others.
Fullerton College Mathematics students Evan Amoranto, Valerie Guerra, Raul Reyes, and former student Khoi Vo were the first Fullerton College students to speak at the Southern California-Nevada Sectional Meeting of the American Mathematical Society held on October 13 at CSULB.
Dr. Steven Dayton, Paralegal Studies' Department Coordinator, was elected President of the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE) at their national convention in Savannah, GA this past October. The term is a three-year term (president elect, president, immediate past president). Steve was not running for the presidency, but was nominated from the floor. AAfPE is an organization of over 400 colleges and universities throughout the United States and over 600 members. The organization is committed to fostering excellence in paralegal education.

FULLERTON COLLEGE ATHLETICS ROUND-UP

WOMEN'S WATER POLO: STATE RUNNER UP! The Lady Hornet water polo team claimed the state runner-up trophy at the state championships at Diablo Valley College over the weekend. On day one, Fullerton strolled past #1 in the North Foothill College 14-7 advancing to the championship game against #1 in the South Golden West College. #2S Fullerton fell in the title game to their Orange Empire Conference rival GWC 12-7. The win over the Hornets gave Golden West their second state championship in the last four years. The Hornets ended their season with an impressive 29-7 overall record and a 5-1 conference record.
CROSS COUNTRY: The Hornets wrapped up their succesful season at the state championships at Woodward Park in Fresno over the weekend. The FC women's team placed 12th overall out of 28 while the men's team placed 23rd.
FOOTBALL: HORNETS WIN THE WESTERN STATE BOWL! Fullerton College, the #8 team in the south, hosted and held off #7 Citrus College 31-24 Saturday night at Fullerton District Stadium. The Hornets (7-4 overall, 5-1 conference) ended their season on a hot streak winning 5 games straight winning the 90th Key to the County game, earning a share of the National Southern Division, and taking the Western State Bowl. The Offensive Player of the Game was QB (Citrus College) Bernard Porter 32-57-0 302 yards with 1 TD. The Defensive Player of the Game was LB Jake Houts (Fullerton College) 11 tackles (7 solo/4 assisted). The game MVP was RB Jamison Sterns (Fullerton College) 15 carries for 84 yards and 1 TD,
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The #14 Lady Hornets qualified for the SoCal Regional Playoffs and will travel to #3 Grossmont College on Tuesday, November 20.
MEN'S BASKETBALL: The Hornets (3-3 overall) hosted the 29th Fullerton College Classic Tournament over the weekend taking 3rd place. One day one FC beat Southwestern College 74-69, but fell on day two to Chaffey College 86-69. On day three the Hornets earned an 80-69 win over a talented Palomar team. Chaffey College took the tournament title beating Saddleback College 78-67. Up Next: Fullerton will play in the Palomar Tournament November 23-25.
