THE KEY STAYS IN FULLERTON! HORNET FOOTBALL TEAM BEATS SANTA ANA COLLEGE

Down 10-0 in the first quarter, the Fullerton College Hornet offense exploded for 529 total yards beating Santa Ana College 57-23 in the Key to the County rivalry game. By winning the game, Fullerton College dashed the Dons hopes of a SCFA Southern Conference title.
Fullerton will now host Citrus College at Cal State Fullerton in the Western State Bowl game. The game will take place this Saturday, November 17, however, the game time has not yet been determined.
Conor Bednarski was named the game's Most Valuable Player as he finished with 251 yards on 18-for-28 passing and three touchdowns, while Joshua Webb was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player with his pair of touchdowns and 116 receiving yards. Left Back Josh Seiler was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player after recording eight tackles, seven solo, with three tackles for a loss and one sack.

NOCCCD BUDGET CENTRAL

For the first time in 20 years, California voters approved a general tax measure - and they did it in support of students and the education provided by community colleges.
Proposition 30 passed with support from 53.9% of California voters. Exit polls suggest that 28% of voters in the state were 18-29 years old. Passage of the proposition will have a profound impact on the North Orange County Community College District - including the confirmation of a Summer 2013 session.

PRESIDENT'S OPEN FORUM

In an effort to encourage communication and strengthen teamwork across campus, President Rajen Vurdien has scheduled a series of Open Forums. The next forum is scheduled for Monday, November 19 at 2 pm in room 224. All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.

WORKFORCE CENTER HOSTING JOB INTERVIEW WORKSHOP

The Workforce Center is hosting an Everything You Need to Know About Job Interviews workshop this Wednesday, November 14 at 12 noon in room 224. In today's highly-competitive job market, students may apply for numerous jobs before being invited for even one interview. Interviews are a critical factor in landing a job and this workshop will help students put their best foot forward.

MECHA AND ETHNIC STUDIES COLLECTING ITEMS FOR ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

MEChA and the Ethnic Studies Department are preparing for their 42nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, which benefits Fullerton College students in need. Items may be dropped in the food drop boxes located throughout campus.
Non-perishable food items should have expiration dates after November 2012, and be in good shape. Desired items include canned fruits and vegetables, soups, sauces, juices, cereals, beans, rice, pastas, cake and dessert mixes, baby food and cereals. Please, no pet food.
Those wishing to make monetary donations may do so by making a check out to "MECha Thanksgiving Drive" (tax exempt status). Organizers are also in need of non-perishable food items and gift certificates to local food stores.

BRICKWALL EVENT RAISES AWARENESS OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Fullerton College Health Services and University Mothers Against Drunk Driving (UMADD) are hosting BrickWall, an arts competition, this Thursday, November 15, from 6 pm - 9 pm in the Wilshire Auditorium. The purpose of the event is to raise campus and community awareness about the negative consequences of alcohol and other substance abuse. Fullerton College students will compete in categories including: 3D/Computer Graphics, Art, Dance, Drama, Film, Music, and Photography. Winners of each category will receive a prize.
The event is free and includes food and refreshments.

ASIAN PACIFIC ISLANDER FACULTY STAFF ASSOCIATION INVITES ALL EMPLOYEES TO JOIN MONTHLY BOOK CLUB

The Asian Pacific Islander Faculty Staff Association (APIA) invites all faculty and staff to join its book club. This month, the club is reading Please Look After Mom by Kyung-Sook Shin. When 69 year old So-nyo is separated from her husband among the crowds of the Seoul subway station, her family begins a desperate search to find her. The story is told through the voices of So-nyo's daughter, son, husband, and mother. The group will meet to discuss this book this Thursday, November 15 at 5:15 pm at Koba Tofu Grill in Fullerton.
The APIA also encourages faculty and staff to attend a one-man performance by writer Eric Liu on Wednesday, November 28 at 7:30 pm in Culver City.

FULLERTON COLLEGE GOOD NEWS CORNER
|
Eleven Fullerton College students recently passed the Flexography Certification Exam with a score of 80% or higher. Several of these students will complete the Advanced Flexography program in the printing department and will then then begin their 240 hours of Work Experience in the Flexography Industry. Completion of this program will give these students an excellent opportunity to obtain future employment in the Flexography Industry. This program has been supported though the collaborative efforts of the FTA (Flexographic Technical Association), OCWIB (Orange County Workforce Investment Board), CACT (Center for Applied Competitive Technologies), PIASC (Printing Industries of America, Southern California) and the Printing Department at Fullerton College.

WOMEN'S WATER POLO: The FC women's water polo team played tough in the SoCal Regional Championships at home over the weekend nailing down a spot in the in the State Tournament. In game one, #2 in SoCal, FC cruised past #10 L.A. Pierce 15-4. In the second game, the Hornets had a tough match-up in OEC rival Riverside College. With the season series tied 2-2, Fullerton pulled out the crucial 9-8 victory vaulting them to the State Tournament. In the championship game against #1 Golden West College, FC fell 9-5. Up Next: The Hornets travel north to play Foothill College in the opener of the State Championships. The first game will take place on Friday, November 16 at 10:30 am.
