Dear Friends and Brothers,
At the end of the year I try to find moments for retrospection. Four decades ago I pledged to assume a life leadership in service. Those words are the foundation of my life. I strive to make the world a better place. It is not an easy journey and as a mortal I don't always live up to my aspirations. Each year I reflect and look for the opportunities to begin anew.
2014 was a difficult year. The challenges thrust upon us were both personal and organizational. When I look back on the last 12 months I can see that in spite of all that has happened I am in many ways a better person. Though difficulty comes strength. I owe this growth to you.
To begin anew is to look deeply and honestly at ourselves, our past actions, speech and thoughts and to create a fresh beginning within ourselves and in our relationships with others. When a difficulty arises in our relationships, when one of us feels resentment or hurt, it is time to begin anew.
We begin anew with an understanding of our history together. I am blessed to know you as friends and brothers. Throughout the past year, there have been so many stirring reminders of the strength of our love for each other.
In the last year, if you spoke out, wrote, or stood up- I am grateful for your support. If you swam, sang, strummed, posted or liked- I am blessed to have you as a friend. If you shared a thought, or an idea, or gave counsel- I am stronger for your wisdom. I you hiked with me through the woods of WTCSR, and fought off attacks' from killer bees, chucked a watermelon off a helix tower or flew a drone to obtain a view of the majesty of nature- then I am grateful for your smiles and your company. If you ran a cable, hung a light or a speaker, shared a photo. or a song, or even a bass line- then I am amazed and enriched by your talents.
Through your efforts and this cause that you support, we continue to make a difference in the lives of children and young adults. Through your relentless commitment to quality and providing opportunities we are setting the example for the next generation of leaders while we are ensuring a brighter future for children who haven't even been born yet.
As we end 2014, I hope that you're able to find a little peace and tranquility with those who are most important to you, whether that means family, friends, or brothers. And I hope you take the time to tell them how thankful you are to have them in your life.
Thank you all for everything that you do, everything that you give, and for giving me so many truly extraordinary reasons to be thankful, every day.
I am humbled by your love and dedication. So as we begin 2015 please know that my reflection considers everything you do to help the youth of our community by making the impossible possible. Together let us begin anew...
With Love
