December 2013 Newsletter

Well, November sure seemed like a short month.. I don't know about you but it came and went all too fast for me.  I always think that December will mean some time to relax, but it never does! So much to do and we're already more than a week in. Christmas sure is coming on fast.

We're a bit late sending you the news this month;  we were hoping to give everyone a chance to go through the barrage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday emails you were surely dealing with. I know I was. It took a good five hours to go through just the ads and spam in my inbox!

Our trip to New York went well again this year! We always love heading to the Big Apple to see our friends at Kensington Publishing.  I can't spill the beans just yet, but there are some wonderful surprises in store for our Johnstone readers and friends in the next couple of years.

Our excitement over A Big Sky Christmas was shared by quite a few folks. It's made the printed list on the New York Times Bestseller list four weeks in a row and we're hoping for a few more weeks. It's also on the USA Today Bestseller list and Publishers Weekly!  It's all because of you, our dedicated readers and friends!

I'm happy to say that the month you've been waiting for has arrived. Smoke Jensen is back in Butchery of the Mountain Man. I get emails all year long asking when the next Smoke Jensen book will be available and, of course, we save the best for last!

We'll be sending out our Christmas cards soon and we don't want anyone left out. If you've moved in the past year, please let us know your new address.

We'd like to say a special Congratulations to Denise Beaulieu - the winner of our Christmas Giveaway! Keep an eye on your mail, Denise, your special gift will arrive soon!

It's always nice to be home for the holidays. We feel that part of what makes this time of year so special is being close to the ones you care about. If that isn't possible, keep them in your hearts and prayers.

Remember our troops and their families this Christmas and  the upcoming New Year!

Until next time, keep your powder dry!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Every December, we are so excited to thank a special reader who has put themselves out there in the Johnstone community - and every year it is a very hard decision! We have such amazing and devoted friends, we are truly blessed.

This year, for all he has done for the Johnstone name and his kindness and spirit, we would like to thank Tom Turner, our Reader of the Year!

This month, we'd also like to thank our Reader of the Month - another who is always there for our community of friends. James Downing, we salute you!

Movie of the Month

I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for a great Christmas movie. The one we've just watched here on the farm is Prancer, featuring one of our favorite cowboys, Sam Elliott. When you're in the mood for a Christmas movie, which one do you choose first?

Take to Facebook and Twitter or just email us at jo@williamjohnstone.net and let us know your favorite Christmas movie! Don't forget to use #williamwjohnstone and #jajohnstone
in your post so we don't miss you!

There may be a Christmas movie we haven't seen.

Who kn
ows, maybe one day we'll see A Big Sky Christmas up on the big screen!

Smoke is back...

In Montana Territory, one name above all others strikes fear and hatred in the hearts of the Crow Indians-John Jackson, better known these days as Liver-Eating Jackson. Consumed by grief and rage, the mountain man has brutally killed ten braves so far in his one-man war of vengeance against the Crow, who murdered his beloved wife.

Smoke Jensen knows Jackson by another name-"friend." He's not sure to what extent Jackson's exploits are true--. devastating loss and frontier savagery have certainly driven lesser men mad.

While doing some trapping in the territory, Smoke hears that twenty of the Crow's most fearsome warriors have banded together to hunt down their nemesis. Without a second thought, he rushes to his old friend's aid.

But even with Smoke Jensen at his side, the fierce and fearless Liver-Eating Jackson may not be able to beat the odds this time...
