Top Tip: Be Professional

Be professional'Tis the season to be merry....or so we're told! However festive you feel, always present yourself professionally and appropriately, particularly at this time of year.

Don't be carried away by the social atmosphere at some events. The alcohol may be free but there could be a high cost if you consume too much of it!

Make sure you understand whether you are going to a networking event or a social get together and then act accordingly. It's OK to talk about topics other than business with your professional colleagues! Although Christmas events provide you with the perfect excuse to do so, you should be endeavouring to widen the range of conversation throughout the year. It's the best way to forge relationships - by finding out what you really have in common.

In this short video filmed for Sage, I talk about why trying to sell at networking events rarely produces the results you're looking for.

I recently interviewed Sen Weafer on the subject of high trust relationships. Sen works with professional advisors to help them to use emotional intelligence to develop the strongest possible relationships with their clients.

In this video Sen talks about different levels of trust, the alternative to a 'Unique Selling Point' and how to develop deep levels of trust in a short period of time.

What people say
"Andy is an outstanding networker in the true sense. He understands the mindset, the passion and the perseverance that is necessary to be successful at and through networking. He shares his knowledge generously. He is great fun to be with, has a wicked sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye. All of the above translates into him wearing his expertise lightly, which to me distinguishes the real expert. "

Coach, Trainer, Facilitator, Brook & Mann
"I love when people understand their domain of expertise. Andy's training was focused, structured, concise and substantial. Andy explained what networking really means. I have learnt so much and I would highly recommend anyone to attend Andy's training. It was awesome and worth it! Brilliant stuff. "
