NO on 97
Reasons Why!
|
"Lower Income Carries the Bigger Burden"
Measure 97 will cost the average Oregon household over $600 every year.
Dr. Tom Potiowski, Economic Dept. Director of Economic Research Center states that such taxes (gross receipts tax) "share many characteristics with sales taxes, and thus a greater burden on lower income households."
"No Exemptions So No Exceptions. Non Profits will suffer too"
"Measure 97 impact would extend beyond C corporations and impact all businesses and consumers. This includes not for profits, pass through entities, hospitals, all of which may be forced to increase costs, or worse they may need to reduce funding or terminate certain programs for Oregonians most in need." (Moss Adams LLP, CPA)
This measure works like a hidden sales tax only worse because it is a tax on a tax that is compounded in each step of the supply chain.

Chamber in Pictures |
"Exercise" your right to vote. There is strength in voting. Look what it did to Dr. Chris, Gresham Animal Hospital.
"Yes I am still going to Chamber events even though I am 10 months pregnant," says Kayla Viramontes, The Bold Orange, to two encouraging friends...Carolyn Aegerter, Premier Designs Jewelry (right) and Barbara Dilley, Buddha Kat Winery (left).
Defeating M97 will be like putting the finishing touches on strawberry dipped in chocolate. Hard work but worth the effort.
Why are these people so happy? Join the Chamber and Rotary friends Thursday and find out.

Member Tips, Tools & Press Releases |
If you have metal halide or high-pressure sodium outdoor lights, like those mounted on your building or in parking areas, your business is a good candidate for an upgrade. Compared to older lighting technology, LED lighting uses 50 to 70 percent less energy and lasts up to four times longer. Visit PGE's website to learn more.
Investors Should Avoid "Great Expectations." Apart from death and taxes, few events in our world are consistently predictable - and investment returns are definitely not one of them. What can you, as an individual investor, do to cope with the ups and downs of the financial markets and make progress toward your long-term goals? Read more...
Lean Potential - Business Tips
Do you do a Gemba walk every day? A Gemba walk gives you an opportunity to see what your team is doing, and celebrate with them the wins. Spend a couple minutes with each area to observe the progress, and address any issues.
Solar City - Tips for Saving Money Around the House
Do laundry with cold water. Remember the detergent called "Cold Power?" Well, it turns out that washing your clothes with cold water will keep them as clean as washing with warm or hot water. And again, it will save money from not having to heat water. If you absolutely can't stomach the idea of washing with cold water, go for warm over hot. You'll still save money not having to heat the water as much.

Surprising Health and Wellness Benefits to Families of Assisted Living Residents
I recently had the privilege of filling in for our Marketing Director while she was on maternity leave. I was reminded many times why I loved the years I worked in that position at Powell Valley. Marketing Directors are the first contact a family, friend or a potential resident has with an assisted living community. We see first-hand how difficult it is for families to begin the process of helping their loved ones. There are feelings of guilt, a father or mother who is against moving and/or is at the age they still think that an assisted living community is the same as the "nursing home" of their youth. Visitors Center |
Timberline Lodge
Built in 1936 and perched 6,000 feet up on the massive south shoulder of Mt. Hood, Timberline Lodge is today home to North America's longest ski season. In the height of winter, the ground floor of the lodge is typically fully buried in snow, with entry through a snow tunnel, or directly into the second floor.
The lodge, together with its cozy rooms, two resident St. Bernard's (Bruno and Heidi), pub and restaurant, is a welcome relief after a full day on the slopes. Ski season will be underway soon. Season passes are now on sale. Click here for more information.
