Reasons Why!

"Blank Check"
Rep. John Davis asked Legislative Counsel whether lawmakers would be required to spend the new tax revenue from Measure 97 in the three areas specified by the measure: early childhood and k-12 education, health care, and senior services.
"The answer is no," Chief Deputy Legislative Counsel Ted Reutlinger wrote in a letter to Davis. "The measure would not bind a future legislature in its spending decisions. If Measure 97 becomes law, the Legislative Assembly may appropriate revenues generated by the measure in any way it chooses."

Just got off the phone with Julianne Johnson. Our conversation gave me goose bumps. This is going to be another great Hear Me Roar breakfast, even challenging the greatness of the last one with Ann Schatz.

Come meet in person an amazing woman. Her life, family history, in addition to her talent and experiences, are so different than the norm. Vanport flood, segregation/depression, blended family, bullied as a child, what part of her story will make an impact on you? How did she meet Michael Allen Harrison? Don't miss this Grammy Nominee opportunity to have breakfast with Julianne.

Use natural cooling and heating when and where possible. Open windows if it's not too hot and use them exclusively if the day isn't going to be that hot. For summer, keep blinds closed on sun facing windows and winter, keep them open on the sun side.

"Try Local First" - Just to be Clear!
For years we have talked about how $1,000,000 of retail can create 21 jobs. This data was supplied to us from WorkSource Oregon. The gross receipts tax in Measure 97 takes the wind out of the business sails...and sales. What incentive would businesses have to increase their gross sales (not profit) if they are penalized by a huge tax? Consider these facts:
Number 1
Measure 97 will cost Oregon over 36,000 PRIVATE SECTOR jobs...
