We all use tools in our daily business that we have found to work. They include everything from how to set up a piece of equipment to how we view our business and our industry. Some of these tools may become outdated, as the world evolves, but we often keep using them because they are comfortable. And they work.
But it's helpful, every once in a while, to turn the toolbox upside down, sort out the tools and add some new ones. And at the same time, to get a clearer perspective on the industry and how we approach it.

CPA sessions on kitting, supply chain at IoPP conference at PACK EXPO

U.S. demand for cups and lids to approach $9 billion in 2016
U.S. demand for cups and lids is forecast to increase 4.1% per year to $8.9 billion in 2016, with growth driven by above average gains for food packaging cups and a favorable outlook for foodservice revenues. The growth of specialty beverages among foodservice operators will be a key factor.

Manufacturers positive about second half of 2012
Prime Advantage, the leading buying consortium for midsized manufacturers, announced the findings of its tenth semi-annual Group Outlook Survey, revealing financial projections and top concerns of its member companies for the second half of 2012. The majority of surveyed manufacturers report healthy revenue projections, strong hiring and capital spending plans.

There was a time the only information one received from a packaging system sensor's display consisted of "yes," "no" and "maybe." And, for the most part, it was sufficient for an owner to monitor system performance and ensure things were running if not perfectly, then "close enough. Now, deep into the "Information Age," such bare-bones data is not always enough.
