We know you regularly visit our library of FREE downloads, and your feedback tells us you like what you find. Whatever your new term looks like, we hope the activities help you navigate towards the best possible relationships with students and colleagues. After all, those relations are the bedrock of life and learning and a happy school environment.

We love to visit schools and work with staff teams too, so contact us anytime to enquire about emotional wellbeing training.

With all our best wishes for 2016, the VisionWorks team

Consortium for Emotional Wellbeing in School

This stuff is contagious! We are excited to be in touch with James Wetz, one of the chairs of CEWBS, which promotes the wellbeing of children in schools and also highlights the importance of the role of teachers. They argue that all teachers should be trained in children's emotional development and attachment

"How a child behaves, and the degree of their engagement in learning, is expressive of how they have learned to cope with life including the challenges of learning. When teachers understand that behaviour is a communication about experience, they can respond in ways which are more effective in enabling pupils to experience learning in less challenging ways and become more accessible to being taught."

Educating the Whole Child

I recently attended a Whole Education conference designed for their partners. It is always a joy to work with people from all over the UK who see the importance of a rounded education. Of course we want our children to acquire academic knowledge. But there is so much more to a human being.

It was inspirational to hear about the work that is going on, from the group of children of all ages who bring enrichment to the rest of the school with their proactive group called Mind Body Spirit, to School 21 that is transforming lives in Stratford, London.

The winds of change?

Mindful Emotion Coaching

"In January 2015 Bath Spa University and
EHCAP were commissioned by Public Health, Somerset  County Council  to provide  Mindful Emotion Coaching Training to schools and the children and young people's workforce in Somerset. This project has now been extended through to March 2017."

VisionWorks attended the EHCAP conference in Taunton on 21st January where many of the Emotion Coaching champions, who have been working with staff and students, parents and administrators to improve their understanding of their emotions and how best to manage them, reported back on their work and their findings.

It was inspirational listening to the experience of the Education and Health employees in Somerset, telling us about their experiences. Using Emotion Coaching in potentially difficult situations diffused tension and aggression, transforming anger, misery and low self esteem into collaborative communication. Powerful stuff!

"What is needed more than anything in these times are services that break the mould to look in a fuller, more rounded way at every child's needs in the context of all that is going on around them, and then work creatively and collaboratively to make life better for everyone."
Sheila Burton Psychologist

We couldn't agree more.
