The Transfer of Precision Agriculture
by Garrett Buckley, HTS Ag
We all know what yield monitors are. We all know
what auto-steer, clutches, and variable rate all
relatively consist of. With all of these “high
priced” options, how are you going to make the best
of it. How do you make them actually work, become
more efficient, or show huge yield gains, and most
importantly show more green in your pockets.
The answer is your data. It is the driving force for
everything agriculture. Although it may not seem as
important as some other things, it certainly is. The
information you gather after all of a year’s hard
work is measured in data. Improvements can always be
made. Using the data you receive to make the best
decision for your farming operation for the next
year is probably the biggest decision of the year
for you. By reading this data along and combining it
with other factors such as: soil tests, your
agronomist or seed dealer, or other options can make
the make it or break it difference for the next
year.
Always keep in mind that data is the
past, present, and future of your farming operation,
if you want the most improvement. Keeping accurate
records and showing what works and doesn’t work will
help sculpt decisions for the future to keep you
gaining and improving the outcome of your farming
operation. |

question lingers: How do we capture the other 346
bu.?
