7 Advantages of Managed IT Services
by Chase Moritz, HTS

Many small to mid-sized organizations are turning to Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to help alleviate some of the strain on their internal IT resources, or take over the management of their network all together.

There are quite a few benefits to partnering with an MSP, from improved reliability to a better understanding of assets, which are all valuable in their own right. These are a few that top the list for most organizations considering some form of Managed IT Services. . .

So, first of all, what is 'Managed IT Services'?

A quick Wikipedia search turns up the definition: “Managed services is the practice of outsourcing day-to-day IT management responsibilities as a strategic method for improving operations.”

A managed services provider (MSP) is defined as “. . .typically an information technology (IT) services provider, who manages and assumes responsibility for providing a defined set of services to their clients either proactively or as they determine that the services are needed.”

The NOC: The Remote Team That Makes IT Happen

We’ve been using this term “NOC” for a while now and we’ve had some questions as to what that means.

It’s common in our industry, but for many non-IT people, it doesn’t mean much. So, we’d like to explain what a NOC is—what does this team do and why do we do it this way?

NOC stands for “Network Operations Center,” and it is basically a location where monitoring, control, troubleshooting, and general oversight of one or multiple networks are centralized. They can be used internally for companies that only need to oversee their own network, or they can be used for much more complex tasks like overseeing multiple outside networks and services. Our NOC is the latter: The HTS NOC team members remotely monitor the networks of our clients to make sure they are running efficiently and securely.

Business Continuity Tip:
Employee Preparedness

When we think of disaster recovery, we often think of a company’s infrastructure; buildings, equipment, data and computer systems. It’s easy to forget that business continuity is first and foremost about the people. It’s people, not technology that recover businesses.

So if your employees are your most valuable asset, what can you do to protect them? View Agility Recovery's webinar "Protecting Your Organization by Preparing Your Employees" for strategies and best practices for helping your employees prepare themselves and their families for a crisis.
