Recycling Awards To Highlight Ingenuity, Best Practices

The Calvert County Solid Waste Division is accepting applications for its second annual recycling awards program to recognize individuals, businesses, government agencies and more for recycling ingenuity and results.

"This program came out of the gate strong last year and we are excited to again highlight new successes and inspire even more people to actively join our recycling efforts," explained Calvert County Recycling Program Specialist Keith Roumfort. "Our goal is to promote innovative recycling solutions and share best practices in our community."

More than 30 awards will be given in 11 categories to eligible profit or non-profit businesses, agencies, organizations, institutions or individuals who operate or live in Calvert County. Eligible participants must recycle waste material generated within Calvert County and provide verifiable documentation of their efforts. The Calvert DSS Advisory Board was named Maryland State Advisory Board of the Year by the Maryland Association of Social Services Boards for its innovation and leadership in developing the non-profit Calvert Family Advocates. This effort provides financial assistance to low-income citizens, veterans and seniors to assist in job training, education, health and housing issues with an emphasis on self-sufficiency rather than crises.
