County Crews Tackle Blizzard, Win
Calvert County Highway Maintenance crews operated more than 100 pieces of equipment around the clock upon news of last week's blizzard arriving in the region. The county also staged 6,000 tons of salt and by Monday had spread 3,000 tons of it.
"Our county employees showed extraordinary commitment to the citizens of Calvert County before, during and following this blizzard," said Calvert County Administrator Terry Shannon. "We owe them, and all of our first responders, a huge debt of gratitude for getting us through this storm safely."
"Mother Nature certainly challenged us," added Al Jeffery, Calvert County Emergency Management Specialist. "Our state and local emergency response teams planned the work and worked the plan. It was an extraordinary regional effort."
Highway Maintenance Crew Leader Kenny Napier and Road Maintenance Worker Dennis Hall install straps to secure the salt box to the truck for snow removal in the hours before the blizzard arrived.

Text Amendment 15-02: Transferable Development Rights: Changes several TDR requirements that direct growth toward town centers where roads, water and sewer systems can better support more intense use.
