The Great Outdoors
Perfect Venues for Autumn's Color Show

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year in Calvert County. With more than 33,000 acres of permanently preserved land, the county offers unparalleled access to nature's dazzling autumn display in forested parks, across farm land and along the water's edge.

Take in the changing colors of the season at one of the many parks or trails from Solomons in the south to North Beach. Stroll among outdoor sculptures at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center. The county's natural resource areas -- Kings Landing Park, Flag Ponds Nature Park and Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Sanctuary -- offer a variety of landscapes to explore.

The American Chestnut Land Trust features paddling along the pristine Parkers Creek. Amble along the Patuxent River at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum or view the famous cliffs at Calvert Cliffs State Park.

Explore northern Calvert County's sparkling waterways along the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail and at Wetlands Overlook Park.

Visit Calvert County this fall. It's so close yet a world away.

Fall Farm Festival
Putting the Culture
in Agriculture

Calvert County has a deep agricultural tradition, and each year families experience it anew during the annual Fall Farm
Festival. The 2015 event, held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, includes five working farms.

Yes, there are the traditional hay rides, corn mazes and pumpkin patches, but local farm owners also add their own twist. How about racing down a giant slide or rolling around in a giant hamster ball? The crafty can make wreaths or shuck corn. While the kids are having (or rolling in) a ball, parents can sample local wines and peruse artworks. It's a great weekend in the great outdoors. Bib overalls optional.

Visit one or all of the farms in this year's festival.

Matrimonial Maneuvers
Plan Now for Your 2016 Calvert County Wedding

Location weddings are hugely popular, and there are no better locations for novel nuptials than here on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Imagine your special day with a ceremony on the bayside, at the river's edge, in a lush vineyard or even at a lighthouse.

When it comes to planning a wedding, Calvert County has everything you and your guests need for a memorable event.
Bordered on the east by the Chesapeake Bay and on the west by the Patuxent River, Calvert County offers unique beach and harbor venues to create the perfect wedding backdrop. Inland are historic sites and beautiful venues from hotels and farms to vineyards.

Guests coming from out of town can spend the time before and after the wedding relaxing on Calvert County's beaches, hunting for fossils, visiting a museum or unwinding at a spa. Charter a boat and spend the day fishing or go swimming, crabbing, canoeing or biking. Visit the county's online wedding resource or email for information on venues, hotels and services.

Experience America's First Culture
American Indian Heritage Day

Before the first settlers arrived in North America, there was a heritage day photo thriving native culture on the shores of the Patuxent River. Each year Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum hosts American Indian Heritage Day to celebrate the Native American experience.

At this year's Nov. 7 event visitors can explore a re-created Eastern Woodland Indian village and enjoy demonstrations of traditional and contemporary Native American life. Music and dance, archery, hands-on crafts, storytelling, food and more are all part of this lively gathering.

The event takes place on the park's spacious grounds along the Patuxent River from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
