Fall Farm Festival
Putting the Culture in Agriculture
Calvert County has a deep agricultural tradition, and each year families experience it anew during the annual Fall Farm
Festival. The 2015 event, held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, includes five working farms.
Yes, there are the traditional hay rides, corn mazes and pumpkin patches, but local farm owners also add their own twist. How about racing down a giant slide or rolling around in a giant hamster ball? The crafty can make wreaths or shuck corn. While the kids are having (or rolling in) a ball, parents can sample local wines and peruse artworks. It's a great weekend in the great outdoors. Bib overalls optional.
Visit one or all of the farms in this year's festival.

Experience America's First Culture
American Indian Heritage Day
Before the first settlers arrived in North America, there was a thriving native culture on the shores of the Patuxent River. Each year Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum hosts American Indian Heritage Day to celebrate the Native American experience.
At this year's Nov. 7 event visitors can explore a re-created Eastern Woodland Indian village and enjoy demonstrations of traditional and contemporary Native American life. Music and dance, archery, hands-on crafts, storytelling, food and more are all part of this lively gathering.
The event takes place on the park's spacious grounds along the Patuxent River from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
