Lighthouse Adventures
Chesapeake Bay Cruise Lights the Way
Lighthouse lovers are invited to the popular Lighthouse Adventure Cruises to enjoy a narrated, scenic cruise around the majestic lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay. On the journey, cruisers will learn the history of the lighthouses and hear fascinating stories that make each lighthouse unique.
The cruise is offered by the Calvert Marine Museum and is scheduled on select Saturdays throughout the summer. The cost is $130 for the day-long trip and $120 for members. Lunch is on your own at Kentmoor Restaurant on Kent Island. Participants will meet at the Calvert Marine Museum under the Drum Point Lighthouse at 7:45 a.m.; expected return time to the museum is 4:30 p.m.

Exhibit Is Inspired by Local Natural Wonders
Join the creative fun in June when the art exhibit Nature's ARTcade kicks off its second year. Last year, more than 500 people visited Flag Ponds Nature Park in Lusby to see the work of 50 artists from across the region.
Calvert Nature Society, in support of the Calvert County Division of Natural Resources, organizes the exhibition to showcase artwork inspired by the natural world of Southern Maryland. Accompanying the juried exhibition is an exhibition by Calvert County art students.
The exhibit opens Fridays and weekends starting June 6 and runs through June 28, noon-3 p.m. An opening reception will be held June 6, from 7-9 p.m., The curator for this exhibition is Carmen Gambrill of carmen's gallery in Solomons. Prize jurors are artists Colleen Sabo and Dr. Denise Breitburg.

Annmarie Sculpture Garden Hosts Cook-off
It's always fun at a chili tasting! Join us for the second Annmarie Chili in the Garden Saturday, June 13. Enjoy chili tasting, live music, a classic car and motorcycle show, wine and beer, family activities and more. The chili tasting kit is $5 per kit and parking is free. Awards will be presented to the best chili and the hottest cars and bikes.
This annual event, set amidst the backdrop of beautiful Annmarie Garden, is presented in conjunction with the Chili Appreciation Society International. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center.
Admission for Annmarie members is free; non-members $3 and children age 5 and younger are free. Sorry, no pets will be allowed into this event.

Down on the Farm
30th Anniversary Children's Event Highlights the Joys of Agriculture
Celebrate Southern Maryland's rich rural history with a day of fun for the whole family. Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum welcomes children of all ages to Children's Day on
 the Farm. With a mix of classic favorites and new attractions, this 30-year tradition will be held Sunday, June 7, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. The event is free and offers a wide range of hands-on activities and demonstrations centered on Southern Maryland's rural history.
Children's Day on the Farm features opportunities to learn many traditional rural skills, such as corn shelling and weaving. Animal lovers enjoy multiple petting zoos, oxen cart rides and pony rides while sack races round out a day of barnyard fun! There are also antique tractors, cars, trucks and farm machinery on display.
Musical performances by artists such as Ray Owens, Jay Armsworthy and Eastern Tradition will take place throughout the day. Live children's entertainment will include a puppet theater, storytelling, magic and the award-winning Old MacDonald Farm Heritage Show.

Eat*Drink*GoLOCAL Event Is a Regional Favorite
Browse local produce from regional farmers, peruse handmade crafts and enjoy live music - all the while learning which local wines to pair with local fare at the fifth annual Eat*Drink*Go LOCAL in North Beach.
 Held Saturday, June 13, from 12-6 p.m., this free event is the premier local food and wine happening in Southern Maryland with an open-air farmers market feel. Attendees can shop the market throughout the day. For $25 (or $20 in advance), attendees can purchase a tasting pass and receive a sampling glass and samples of Maryland wines from attending wineries. Bayside Living on Display
House and Garden Tour Showcases North Beach
Visitors flock to the Town of North Beach on the first Sunday each June for the North Beach House and Garden Club Tour and Art Show. The event highlights the unique architecture, beautiful garden designs and lifestyles of "North Beachers." Tour eight houses and public buildings combined with several refreshment stops.
The guided tour is $10. This year, the North Beach House and Garden Club is excited to hold its 30th and final tour from 1 to 5 p.m. The tour begins at St. Anthony's Church parking lot, 8816 Chesapeake Ave. Enjoy the ambiance of bayside homes, enjoy the art and craft show on the boardwalk and visit the Bayside History Museum and the welcome center. Dragon Boat Festival Offers Fun for a Cause
Come be part of the visually spectacular End Hunger Dragon Boat Festival and spend the day in the charming town of North Beach. You will enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere, local vendors, and more! Best of all, you will be part of our community coming together to support End Hunger in Calvert County.
Paddlers will gather at the North Beach Boardwalk Saturday, June 20. The festival features 42 teams, a family fun zone and craft and food vendors. Channel 7 WJLA's Chief Meteorologist Doug Hill will return as master of ceremonies for this third annual event.
The purpose of the festival is to raise funds for End Hunger in Calvert County, a local non-profit organization committed to moving people from dependency to self-sufficiency. For more information about the festival, sponsorship opportunities or to be a vendor, please visit endhungercalvert.org.
