The Fight for Freedom
Lecture Explores Slavery in the United States  Chris Haley is returning to the North Beach Town Hall Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. to discuss the history of slavery in the United States and the struggle for freedom. Haley, the nephew of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alex Haley, is the director of the Study of Slavery in Maryland at the Maryland State Archives research center. He has also promoted the Underground Railroad Educational and Cultural Program to explore the legacy of the Underground Railroad using primary documents available at the Maryland State Archives and to discover unknown "heroes" of slave flight and resistance. Museum Store Hosts Jewelry Trunk Show
The Calvert Marine Museum Store will host its first Jewelry Trunk Show on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meet jewelry designer Michelle Pressler and see her modern
heirloom jewelry collection inspired by the Chesapeake Bay. Pressler, a Philadelphia native, has been designing and making jewelry for more than 20 years.
The elegant, handmade pieces are meant to be an affordable keepsake for everyday wear. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and receive a free gift with purchase.
