    • Monday, March 9 at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm:
      Enjoy story time with Ms. Frizzle™ and an appearance from her friend Liz.

    • Tuesday, March 10 at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm:
      Join Rusty Garrett, chief weather anchor for KWTX, for Project Tornado, an entertaining and educational demonstration of the effects of weather on our environment and the importance of making a weather safety plan.

    • Wednesday, March 11 at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm:
      Enjoy The Magic of Weather featuring Magician John O'Bryant.

    • Thursday, March 12 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm:
      Discuss your weather-related questions with Waco's veteran weather expert, Roy Cook, a former KWTX weatherman.

    • Friday, March 13 at 11:00 am & 1:00 pm:
      Take advantage of another opportunity to join Ms. Frizzle™ and her friend Liz for story time.

     

    Activities included in regular admission. Admission prices for The Magic School Bus™ Kicks Up a Storm are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $5 for children. Museum members and Baylor University students receive free admission.

    The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm

    Seatbelts everyone! Buckle up and get ready for a wild weather ride. Join the popular Ms. Frizzle™ and her class in the Mayborn Museum's spring exhibit, The Magic School Bus™ Kicks Up A Storm.

    Based on the best-selling Scholastic books and the ever-popular television series, this bilingual, hands-on traveling exhibit will transport visitors into the wacky world of weather.

    The fun begins as children learn how to create snowflake crystals, make a hot air balloon soar, experience a hurricane and snowstorm, and become a meteorologist for the day!

Science Thursdays at the Mayborn Museum Complex
    Science Thursdays at the Mayborn Museum Complex

    Organized and sponsored by Professor Greg Benesh and Professor Meera Chandrasekhar from the Department of Physics at Baylor University, Science Thursdays is a series of one-hour talks on various scientific topics. No science background is required, only enthusiasm for and an open interest in science.

    Upcoming lectures will be presented March 5, March 19, April 16, and April 30. Join the speaker and guests for coffee and cookies prior to each lecture at 6:30 pm.

      Gerald Cleaver
      Life on the Landscape

      String theory offers a possible Theory of Everything – but not just for our universe. Rather, string theory implies our universe is one of at least 10500 universes, forming a vast multiverse and the possibility of non-atomic-based (intelligent) life forms beyond it. Gerald Cleaver, Ph.D., is a Professor and Graduate Program Director at the Department of Physics at Baylor University.
      Lectures are free and open to the public; however, admission to the museum is not included.

      Kenichi Hatakeyama
      Exploring the Subatomic World

      The world's highest energy particle collider, the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland, provides wonderful opportunities to study subatomic particles. Come learn how the experiment operates, how the Higgs particle was discovered, and what we expect to learn in the coming decades. Kenichi Hatakeyama Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Baylor University.
      Lectures are free and open to the public; however, admission to the museum is not included.

    March 16-20, 2015

    Engage, explore, and enjoy Texas history by stepping back in time in the Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village. Experience a different aspect of life in an 1890s Texas community each day during the week from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Taste something sweet, plant a garden, make a clay pot, meet baby ducks and chicks, and so much more.

    Join us on Friday, March 20 for a special musical performance by Dick Gimble & Friends.

    Activities included in regular admission. Admission prices for The Magic School Bus™ Kicks Up a Storm are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $5 for children. Museum members and Baylor University students receive free admission.

    The museum turned 10 years old on May 22, 2014! We are celebrating throughout the year with 10 special activities to commemorate this very special birthday.

    On February 5 and 6, we celebrated our birthday with a hands-on presentation on the importance of the buffalo and horse to the Comanche and Southern Plains tribes.

    Join us on March 19 for Spring in the Village from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Help us plant a garden and get your own commemorative seed packet to plant a garden of your own!

    Hold on to your seats. The Mayborn Museum is having a magical explosion! Museum visitors will enjoy an exciting Chemistry Magic Show at the Mayborn Museum on Saturday, March 28. Baylor University chemistry students will showcase their educational talents as they bring together the art of science and magic.

    Regular admission to the museum includes all activities and events except traveling exhibits.

    Admission prices for The Magic School Bus™ Kicks Up a Storm are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $5 for children and includes regular admission.

    Baylor University students and museum members receive free admission. Event may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
