    Artifact Spotlight

Artifact Spotlight This key was to the Waco Suspension Bridge when it was a toll bridge. Large numbers of cattle moving along the Chisholm Trail crossed the Brazos River in Waco. When the suspension bridge was completed in 1870, it provided an easier, if more expensive, means for cattlemen to move herds across the river. The Waco Bridge Company charged a toll per head for crossing the bridge. See the key and learn more about the Chisholm Trail by checking out the exhibit case in the Rotunda at the Mayborn Museum.

Special Events

    Free Sunday Program

Our Free Sunday Program continues on February 2, 2014 thanks to the support of our sponsor DuPuy Oxygen.

Baylor University's Mayborn Museum would like to thank Kohl's for sponsoring January's Free Sunday. Join us as we welcome everyone to the museum with no admission charge.

Parking Lot Update

Parking Lot Update The museum's new parking lot, which is conveniently located in front of the building, is now complete. For special weekend events and Free Sundays, the overflow lot will continue to be the one in front of the Law School.

Although there is construction fencing between our building and that lot, a new sidewalk running along University Parks Drive will be completed very soon for safe access.
