On October 10, 2013 the Mayborn Museum hosted the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The Lillian M. Brown Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Warren Rudolph. This award is given annually in honor of Lillian M. Brown who from 1948-1990 contributed thousands of volunteer hours identifying, cataloging and preserving museum specimens, educating school children through museum summer classes, and welcoming visitors as a docent for the Strecker Museum. The contribution of her talents and time are a lasting inspiration to all museum employees and volunteers.

On presenting the award, Museum Director Ellie Caston said, "Warren volunteers weekly as a greeter in the Rotunda, but is always ready to pitch in whenever he is needed. He loves our museum and wants everyone to love it too."
