Vocal Revolution to Kickoff Harborfest in Downtown Crossing on July 1st

This year the BID has partnered with Harborfest to present Vocal Revolution on July 1st. The men's chorus will be performing on Summer Street outside of Macy's on Friday, July 1st from 1 to 2 pm as part of the Harborfest celebration during July 4th weekend. 

Vocal Revolution men's chorus were the winners of WGBH's second season of Sing That Thing earlier this year. This is a free event. 

Vocal Revolution has been performing for more than 40 years as one of New England's top-ranked male vocal ensembles. Their singing style is primarily in the barbershop style, and their repertoire includes heartfelt ballads, toe-tappers, swing melodies and more.

Celebrate Boston's Harbor and History at the Old South Meeting House

Celebrate America's history at the Old South Meeting House this Independence Day weekend with Harborfest activities that are all free with museum admission. Admission on July 4th is free to those 18 and younger. 

On Thursday, June 30th, 11 am to noon, is "No Tax on Tea: A Colonial Tea Tax Debate." Recreate the fiery debate that started a revolution with the Boston Tea Party. 

On Friday, July 1st through Monday, July 4th, 9:30 am to 5 pm daily is "Scavenger Hunt: Where the Boston Tea Party Began!" Everyone in the family can try a fun and challenging museum scavenger hunt. Also daily is "Would You Be a Patriot or Loyalist?" in which you can take a quiz to find out which side you may have favored in colonial Boston. 

On Friday, July 1st, 11 to 11:30 am and 1:30 to 2 pm is "Whispers of Revolution" in which you can enjoy a short performance portraying Boston on the eve of revolution.
 
Boston Calling Block Party at Dewey Square with The Absolute Gentleman on June 30th

This week's Boston Calling Music Festival Block Party in Dewey Square will feature music from The Absolute Gentleman on Thursday, June 30th. The block parties are free and open to all members of public aged 21+.

The block parties are a partnership with the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy GreenwayShock TopWicked WinesRadioBDC, CHEN PR and the BIDAll block parties will feature local musicians. The parties are from 5 to 8 pm and have a cash bar, lawn games and promotions.
Live Soloist Performers at 133 Federal Street Three Days a Week

The BID sponsors soloist performers outside of 133 Federal St. on MondaysWednesdays and Fridays for everyone to enjoy. 

D'Rafaele will be performing on Wednesday, June 29th. Avery Ballotta, pictured above, will be performing on Friday, July 1st. These performances are from noon to 2 pm.
Brandon Diaz Performing at
Free Berklee Concert Series at 
100 Summer Street Plaza

The Berklee College of Music Summer Concert Series continues at the 100 Summer Street Plaza. The series offers free musical performances every Tuesday and Thursday from Berklee students.

Brandon Diaz, above, will perform on Tuesday, June 28th and Thursday, June 30th. Diaz is an accomplished singer-songwriter and solo musician. He's also fulfilling his goal of creating a R&B/soul fusion band (Brandon Diaz 'N Soul) with equally talented fellow Berklee students. 

Jose Soto will perform on Tuesday, July 5this a singer-songwriter and composer from Guatemala. Among his accomplishments, Soto has worked as a composer and producer for commercials, songs, and jingles in Guatemala including Pepsi, Tropicana, and political parties. 

All performances are from noon to 2 pm. Performances may be cancelled due to weather or changed due to scheduling. Click here to see all of the upcoming performances.
 
Revolutionary Boston Pub Quiz Night at Old State House on June 30th

The Old State House (206 Washington St.) is hosting a Revolutionary Boston Pub Quiz Night on Thursday, June 30th

Enjoy a beer while you try your hand at Revolutionary Era trivia. Two beers or non-alcoholic beverages are included with your $15 ticket available here. Additional beverages are available for purchase. You can come in teams ready to do battle or join a team once you arrive. This event is from 6 to 8 pm.
 
Watch 'Good Will Hunting' at 
Old South Meeting House on June 30th

The Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) is continuing its "Movies at the Meeting House" series and is featuring stories that showcase Boston writers. On Thursday, June 30th, "Good Will Hunting" will be shown. 

Doors open at 6:45 pm, and the film begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available for clicking here. Advance tickets are $8 for general public, $4 for OSMH members, and tickets at the door will be $10. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. 
 
Experience 18th-Century Boston with
King Street Walking Tour on July 1st

Grab your walking shoes for a King Street Walking Tour from the Bostonian Society on Friday, July 1st

This is a fun-filled tour that will transport you back to 18th-century Boston as you experience the sites, smells and sounds of one of the most important streets -- King Street. The tour begins at the Old State House (206 Washington St.) at 2 pm and lasts one hour. Bring good walking shoes, water and all-weather gear (it's rain or shine). This tour is free with admission, but requires pre-registration by clicking here. Space is limited.
 
Sweet Harmony Singing on Saturdays on Summer Street 

The singing group Sweet Harmony is performing on Saturdays outside of Macy's on Summer Street from 12:30 to 3 pm.

Sweet Harmony is a professional performance troupe at Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park performing modern hits and songs through the years.
 
'If/Then' Opens at Boston Opera House on July 5th

"If/Then" opens at the Boston Opera House on July 5th and runs through July 17th. This is a contemporary Broadway musical about living in New York today and all the possibilities of tomorrow.

Fireworks, Concerts and a Food Fest! 
Enjoy July 4th Weekend with 
Boston Harborfest Events

If you're looking for something to do this July 4th weekend than look no further than Boston Harborfest. There are more than 100 free activities, including fireworks, a Taste of Harborfest, an art show, live music and more. 

Harborfest starts Friday, July 1st at noon as dignitaries from the City of Boston will kick off the 35th Annual Boston Harborfest at Faneuil Hall. The 215th Army Band will play to get the celebration started and after a few speeches the official Boston Harborfest cake will be cut. The BID has partnered with Harborfest this year to present Vocal Revolution in Downtown Crossing on Summer Street outside of Macy's on Friday, July 1st from 1 to 2 pm.

Some of the highlights of Harborfest include live entertainment and a movie screening on Friday, July 1st, at Christopher Columbus Park at 6 pm; The Arts at Harborfest will be on Saturday, July 2nd, as local artists will display and sell their art under the trellis at Christopher Columbus Park. 

Live music on Long Wharf will lead up to a fireworks show at 9 pm on Saturday, July 2nd over Boston's Inner Harbor. On Sunday, July 3rd, there will be the Taste of Harborfest as restaurants along the waterfront will showcase and sell their culinary creations on Long Wharf alongside live entertainment.

Like 1776, Hear the Declaration of Independence Read from the
Old State House Balcony

Since 1776, America's independence has been declared from the Old State House balcony (206 Washington St.). Join the audience as the Declaration of Independence is read by a member of Boston's Ancient and the Honorable Artillery Company on Monday, July 4th.

This event is brought to the public by the City of Boston and the Bostonian Society. This free event is taking place at 10 am

13th Annual Chinatown Main Street Festival on July 2nd

The 13th Annual Chinatown Main Street Festival will be on Saturday, July 2nd from 10 am to 6 pm

Enjoy stage performances, lion dances, Chinese folk dances, martial arts performances, vendors, arts and crafts, games and more! This is a free event that will be on the streets of Chinatown. 
 
Win $100 Gift Certificate to Yvonne's! Contest to Identify Downtown Dreamtown Buildings 

Do you want a $100 gift certificate to the very popular and trendy Yvonne's restaurant? Of course you do! All you need to do is correctly guess the addresses of buildings the public art project Downtown Dreamtown are based on. 

Starting Tuesday, June 28th, and the following three days, the Downtown Boston BID's twitter feed will be providing clues about each building. The Downtown Boston BID twitter feed is: DTownBostonBID. Registration is open for the July 16th Over the Edge event at the Hyatt Regency Boston, a fundraiser for Special Olympics Massachusetts. There are still spots available -- be sure to reserve yours today!

Over the Edge is a two-day event, Friday, July 15th from 1 to 4 pm and Saturday, July 16th from 9 am to 5 pm.

Vendors (weather permitting) will be at Walgreens Plaza (School and Washington streets) from 11 am to 6 pm on Wednesdays, and at CVS Plaza (Summer and Chauncy streets) from 11 am to 6 pm on Fridays.

The Downtown Boston BID Ambassadors provide clean and hospitality services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day. Ambassadors create a friendly, welcoming Downtown presence by helping visitors with directions, notifying fire and police personnel of incidents and more.
