What You Need to Know
Boston traffic and parking to be affected by special events from Thursday through Saturday

The following is from the Boston Transportation Department:
 
Several special events taking place in the City of Boston on Thursday, June 9th through Saturday, June 11th, will impact traffic and parking. At some locations traffic will be detoured and delayed, and on-street parking will be restricted. Those attending the festivities are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles. Information on Hubway, the regional bike-share service, may be found at www.theHubway.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.MBTA.com
 

Thursday, June 9th -- JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

An estimated 9,000 participants will run/walk beginning at 7:15 pm on Charles Street at the Boston Common. The race will proceed on Charles Street turning left onto Beacon Street, left onto Arlington Street, right onto Commonwealth Avenue outbound, under the Massachusetts Avenue overpass into Kenmore Square, turning around after the MBTA Bus Station, to Commonwealth Avenue inbound, under the Massachusetts Avenue overpass, continuing on Commonwealth Avenue, turning right onto Arlington Street, left onto Boylston Street, to Charles Street. Drivers should expect that streets along this route will be closed to traffic from 7:15 to 8:30 pm.  

 

Temporary "Tow Zone No Stopping Thursday 9 am to 9 pm" parking restrictions will be in effect as follows:

  • Beacon Street, both sides, from Charles Street to Arlington Street, and, north side, from Charles Street ending 85" east to the driveway
  • Boylston Street, both sides, from Arlington Street to Charles Street
  • Charles Street South, west side, from Park Plaza to Boylston Street
  • Commonwealth Avenue, north side, north roadway, from Arlington Street to 100' west ending at #3 Commonwealth Avenue and including three metered parking spaces

Friday, June 10th -- Boston Dyke March 
 
An estimated 2,000 participants will gather at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common at 7 pm and proceed to walk along the following route:  Exit Boston Common, right onto Charles Street, left onto Beacon Street, left onto Arlington Street, right onto Commonwealth Avenue, left onto Clarendon Street, left onto Boylston Street, return to the Boston Common at the corner of Boylston Street and Charles Street. Drivers should expect that streets along the route will be closed to traffic through approximately 8:15 pm.


Saturday, June 11th -- Boston Pride Parade

An estimated 35,000 participants will gather on Boylston Street, between Dalton and Clarendon Streets at noon and proceed to walk along the following route: Boylston Street at Clarendon Street, left onto Tremont Street, left onto Berkeley Street, right onto Boylston Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Beacon Street, left onto Tremont Street, straight onto Cambridge Street and right onto City Hall Plaza. Drivers should expect that streets along the route will be closed to traffic through approximately 4 pm.

The following temporary "Tow Zone No Stopping Saturday" parking restrictions will be in effect:
  • Boylston Street, both sides, from Massachusetts Avenue to Tremont Street
  • Exeter Street, both sides, from Newbury Street to St. James Avenue
  • Dartmouth Street, both sides, from Newbury Street to St. James Avenue
  • Gloucester Street, both sides, from Newbury Street to Boylston Street
  • Fairfield Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street
  • Clarendon Street, both sides, from Newbury Street to Tremont Street
  • Tremont Street, both sides, from Union Park Street to East Berkeley Street
  • Berkeley Street, both sides, from Tremont Street to Newbury Street
  • Charles Street South, both sides, from Park Plaza to Boylston Street
  • Charles Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Beacon Street
  • Beacon Street, both sides, from Charles Street to Tremont Street
  • Tremont Street, both sides, from Cambridge Street to Beacon Street
  • Court Street, both sides, from Washington Street to Cambridge Street
  • Cambridge Street, City Hall Plaza side, from Somerset Street to Court Street, and east side, from Sudbury Street to New Chardon Street
  • New Chardon Street, both sides, from Cambridge Street to Congress Street
