The Boston Massacre Reenactment is March 5th at the Old State House

The 246th Commemoration and Reenactment of the Boston Massacre will be on Saturday, March 5th at 7 pm outside the Old State House (206 Washington St.).

The Boston Massacre Reenactment is presented at the exact location and anniversary of the original event that changed the course of American history. The Old State House will transform through the presence of hundreds of reeanctors, including average Bostonians and the His Majesty's 29th Regiment of foot.
 
There is plenty of family programming that examines the Massacre and its aftermath throughout the day. As night falls, you'll witness the famous event reenacted on the spot where it happened in 1770. When the action begins, shout along in support of the British or the Bostonians.

Hear How The World's Biggest 
Art Heist in History Was Pulled Off 
Right Here in Boston

The Rotary Club of Downtown Boston will hear from Boston Globe journalist Stephen Kurkjian on "How The World's Biggest Art Heist in History Was Pulled Off Here in Boston and Remains Unsolved Even Today" at Central Bistro (34 Summer St.) at 6 pm

You'll hear from Kurkjian who wrote "Master Thieves" about the riveting $500 million theft from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It was the largest art theft in history that is still on the FBI's list of biggest unsolved art crimes and is still unsolved 25 years later. Non-Rotary members can RSVP and purchase $20 tickets by clicking here. Free Movies: 'The Amazing Nina Simone!' from Emerson College's 
Bright Lights Film Series 

The Emerson College's Bright Lights Film Series is a free movie series that is open to the public at the Paramount Center's Bright Family Screening Room (559 Washington St.).

On Tuesday, March 1st enjoy "The Amazing Nina Simone," a documentary about the popular musician.

New England Conservatory Concert Series at the Old South Meeting House on March 4th

The Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) is holding several Music at the Meeting House performances starting in March. The New England Conservatory is presenting a four-part concert series featuring performers from NEC's Artist and Diploma and Graduate Ensemble Training programs at OSMH with the first on Friday, March 4th from 12:15 to 1 pm.

Each concert is free and open to the public. Two of the four concerts will take place in the evening with a reception prior to the performance. Click here for more info.
The Merchant Hosting Taste of Iceland for Four Nights with Special Menu

The Merchant (60 Franklin St.) is this year's restaurant host for the Taste of Iceland in Boston 2016 from March 4th-7th. This is a celebration of Icelandic food, music and culture.

The Merchant will feature a four-course Icelandic menu for $65 prepared by Icelandic chef Thrainn Freyr Vigf�sson, head chef at Blue Lagoon's LAVA Restaurant and coach of the Icelandic Culinary Team. Boston Ballet's 'Onegin' at Opera House Through March 6th

The Boston Ballet's latest offering, "Onegin," is an emotional performance based on Alexander Pushkin's narrative poem. "Onegin" is being performed at the Boston Opera House through March 6th. 

"Onegin" is a story of unrequited love. Eugene Onegin, a young and cynical aristocrat, travels to attend a birthday party for Tatiana -- the younger sister to his best friend Lensky's fianc� Olga. Tatiana falls in love with Onegin and writes him a passionate letter. Onegin rejects her love, tears up her letter, and amuses himself by flirting with Olga. A duel ensues as does an unintended death.

'The Wong Kids' at The Paramount Center Through March 6th

Enjoy the fantasy tale of "The Wong Kids" at Emerson College's Paramount Center running through March 6th. 

This live action story mixes storytelling, puppetry, and visual magic as Violet and Bruce Wong must travel to space to battle the evil Space Chupacabra.

Marlo Marketing's Health & Wellness Series continues on March 9th with "Bone Broth: The Cellulite Secret?!"

The 2nd Annual Fifth of March Anniversary Orations - Speak Out! at 
Old South Meeting House on March 9th

The 2nd Annual Fifth of March Anniversary Orations - Speak Out! will take place at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) on Wednesday, March 9th at 6 pm

Each year from 1772 to 1775, men, women and children gathered at the Old South Meeting House to commemorate the anniversary of the Boston Massacre. There were rousing speeches by John Hancock, Benjamin Church and Joseph Warren. Hear selected excerpts of these speeches, performed by an inter-generational group including students, actors, and historians where the orations took place 240 years ago. Audience members can join the fun and read from a selection of excerpts. This is free and open to the public, but registration is requested by clicking here. This event is co-sponsored by Suffolk University's History Department and The Bostonian Society. 
'Rhinoceros' Debuts at Modern Theatre Through March 13th

The imaginative play "Rhinoceros" will be performed at Suffolk University's Modern Theatre through March 13th. 

Imagine a sunny afternoon on Newbury Street and you're meeting a friend for coffee and maybe you're a little hungover. Everything is normal. And all at once, everyone you know turns into a rhinoceros! This is a new adaptation of Eugene Ionesco's 20th century absurdist masterpiece being reimagined for the 21st.

Hillary Clinton Holds Rally at 
Old South Meeting House

Presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton led a rally today (Feb. 29th) at the Old South Meeting House ahead of tomorrow's primary.

The Bridal March Fashion Series in Downtown Boston Starts March 3rd

This March the BID and Platform Downtown are presenting a trio of wedding-themed events -- The Bridal March Series. There will be a wedding fashion show, panel discussions on bridal photography, jewelry, footwear, hair, makeup and more. The first event "The Bridal March - Picture Perfect" is on Thursday, March 3rd at the Old South Meeting House

"The Bridal March series will encompass many details of wedding planning -- photography, jewelry, hair and makeup, shoes, flowers and of course, the wedding dress!" said Terri Mahn, of thestylistcloset, the curator of the events.

"The Bridal March - Picture Perfect" is on Thursday, March 3rd, from 6 to 8 pm. This is a panel discussion with bridal and special occasion designer David Josef, Best of Boston Magazine winner tailor and designer Alan Rouleau, and five-time Best of Boston Magazine winner photographer Cheryl Richards. Erica Corsano, Lifestyle Editor and Social Columnist for the Boston Herald, will be the moderator for this panel. Click here to purchase tickets. 

 

"The Bridal March - Decorative Details" is on Thursday, March 10th, at the Old South Meeting House from 6 to 8 pm. This is a panel discussion with florist Orly Kohn, Moira and Megan Flynn of M. Flynn Jewelry, Thom Solo of Thom Solo Footwear, specialist in bridal hair stylists Stacey Kuehn, and Define Beauty cosmetics owner Mariogla Pantazopoulos. Freedom Trail's New Revolutionary Women Tour Debuts on March 5th

The Freedom Trail Foundation is piloting a new Revolutionary Women Tour, inviting visitors to discover four centuries of women who changed history from Boston. The tour is taking place in March, in celebration of Women's History Month, with the first one on March 5th at 12:45 pm. 

This 90-minute tour feature tales of the early religious rebellions of Anne Hutchinson and Mary Dyer, patriotic actions of Abigail Adams and Mercy Otis Warren, abolitionist movements of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Harriet Tubman, prolific writings of authors Phillis Wheatley and Louisa May Alcott, and landmark speeches of Margaret Sanger and Susan B. Anthony. Led by 18th-century costumed guides, tours will visit the places where these women's voices were heard, their works published, and laid to rest along Boston's iconic red line.
 
The Revolutionary Women Tour departs from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center (139 Tremont St.) on Saturdays and Sundays in March at 12:45 pm. Freedom Trail Foundation walking tours are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors/students and $8 for children.
