The Wong Kids Debuts at The 
Paramount Center on Feb. 20th

Enjoy the fantasy tale of The Wong Kids debuting at Emerson College's Paramount Center on Feb. 20th and running through March 6th. 

This live action story mixes storytelling, puppetry, and visual magic as Violet and Bruce Wong must travel to space to battle the evil Space Chupacabra.

School Vacation Week at 
Old South Meeting House: 
Get Presidential at the Meet House

How well do you know the presidents of the US? Visit the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) during the week of President's Day and learn fun facts about our presidents and visit the balcony where George Washington stood during the Revolutionary War. 

Young visitors can hunt for artifacts in a scavenger hunt or attend one of the hands-on drop-in activities liking hear a story aloud, fashion a coat of arms, create your own colonial portrait, design a broadside or make a paper lantern. 

The schedule for activities is: Wednesday - Coat of Arms, Thursday - Lanterns, Friday - Colonial Broadsides.

Activities are being offered daily through Friday, Feb. 19th, from 11 am to noon. No registration is required and all activities are included with museum admission. Admission is free for Boston residents 18 and younger when accompanied by an adult. 
 
Free Children's Winter Festival on 
Boston Common on Feb. 18th

There will be a city-sponsored Children's Winter Festival on the Boston Common on Tuesday, Feb. 18th from 10 am to 4 pm. This event was rescheduled from Feb. 16th to inclement weather.

This is a free event. There will be a Snowzilla, a three-story high inflatable toboggan slide. Children can also take photos inside a 15-foot tall snow globe,skate for free on the Boston Common Frog Pond, participate in free activities and giveaways. 
 
Free Skating at the Boston Common 
Frog Pond, Feb. 16-19

The Highland Street Foundation is sponsoring a Winter Camp 2016 that includes free ice skating on Boston Common's Frog Pond during February school vacation week (February 16-19).

There will also be guest appearances throughout the week from Wally the Green Monster, Curious George and more. There will be giveaways and refreshments. 
To avoid long waiting times, tickets for available time slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis each day at the Frog Pond starting at 10 am. 
Kacey Musgraves Performing at Orpheum Theater on Feb. 19th

American singer and songwriter Kacey Musgraves will be performing at the Orpheum Theater on Friday, Feb. 19th. The show starts at 7:30 pm. Click here for tickets.

Watch 'Drunk, Stoned, Brilliant Dead' and '5-25-77' as Part of Emerson College's Free Bright Lights Film Series 

The Emerson College's Bright Lights Film Series is a twice a week free movie series that is open to the public at the Paramount Center's Bright Family Screening Room (559 Washington St.).

On Tuesday, Feb. 16th enjoy the documentary "Drunk, Stoned, Brilliant Dead," which is about three Harvard graduates who created the National Lampoon. "5-25-77" will be on Thursday, Feb. 18th.

At this Sip & Learn, Thirst Juice Co. founder Heather Stevenson will teach you how to make juices, smoothies and bowls featuring lots of greens and still taste delicious. This tasty event is on Wednesday, Feb. 24th from 6 to 7 pm at Thirst Juice Co. (44 School St.)

Meet Bully Boy Distillers at a Three-Course Meal at Marliave on Feb. 24th

Celebrate Black History Month on the Freedom Trail 

In celebration of Black History Month, please join the Freedom Trail's African-American Tour on Saturdays and Sundays throughout February at 12:45 pm.

Led by 18th-century costumed guides, visitors view history through the eyes of African-American revolutionaries such as Crispus Attucks, Phillis Wheatley, Prince Hall, Peter Salem and more. This 90-minute long tour departs from Boston Common Visitor Information Center (139 Tremont St.).

'An Octoroon' at the
Paramount Center through Feb. 27th

"An Octoroon," the winner of the 2014 Obie Award for Best New American Play, debuted at the Paramount Center on Jan. 29th and runs through Feb. 27th.

Author Branden Jacobs-Jenkins revises a popular 19th century melodrama with "blushing Southern belles, dastardly schemes, and budding forbidden romances - for today's 'post-racial,' spectacle-obsessed world."

French Asian Bakery Tous Les Jours 
Now Open on Tremont Street

Tous Les Jours (24 Tremont St.) opened last week and customers quickly paraded in to enjoy the delicious offerings from the French Asian bakery. 

"We focus on providing the highest quality pastries, breads and cakes," said Vivian Yu, store manager. "We bake everything fresh everyday so there are no leftovers the next day." Yu added that barista trainers from New York City have been brought to the new Boston store to train staff on how to make the perfect latte and more.
The business features La Colombe coffee, and offers lattes, Korean teas, popping boba teas, smoothies and shaven ice during warm weather. 
 
Tous Les Jours also sells sandwiches, salads and produces more than 150 pastries and breads that can all be seen on its national website here.

The Genesis Foundation for Children, Helping for 30+ Years, Now on Temple Place

The Genesis Foundation for Children, a New England based nonprofit that focuses on improving the lives of children born with genetic disorders for more than 30 years, has moved to Downtown Boston (60 Temple Place).

"As a property owner in Downtown Crossing and member of the Downtown Boston BID, I am very proud to provide the new home for The Genesis Foundation for Children," said
Matthew Hoffman. "And as its president and board chair, I am excited that our staff is working in such a great neighborhood, convenient to everything it has to offer, including our supporters and stakeholders."

The Genesis Foundation for Children, founded in 1982 by the late Dr. Murray Feingold, provides funding for the diagnosis and compassionate, coordinated care of children born with physical, intellectual and, genetic disorders, and to aid them in achieving their full potential.
"We hope to expand the number of programs we oversee as well as the number of patients in our care. Our goal is to enhance our unique, clinical services here in the Boston area while expanding our program throughout New England and the country," said Hoffman.
 
The Genesis Foundation raises money through many enjoyable and educational events, corporate partnerships and the support of many generous individuals. One of those events, The Boston Flower and Garden Show Preview Party is taking place on March 15th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Seaport World Trade Center. Bike Safety Forum at Suffolk University on Feb. 23rd

Suffolk University (120 Tremont St. First Floor Function Room) will host a Bike Safety Forum on Tue., Feb. 23rd from 6 to 8:30 pm.

State legislators and elected officials from Boston and Cambridge will be in attendance to discuss 
what changes to current state laws need to be made, what changes are already underway and how to make roads safer for bicyclists, drivers and pedestrians.

No ticket is required and the event is free and open to the public. However, IDs are required to enter the venue and it is recommended you registered via this Eventbrite page, which will speed your entry.
