The Downtown Boston BID is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer, this position will be responsible for the financial operation and integrated management and implementation of all programs administered by the BID. The CFO will efficiently oversee a cost-effective and public-spirited operation and possess excellent financial and organizational management skills. Traffic Advisory Due to
Veterans Day Parade
The annual Veterans Day Parade will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11th beginning at 1 pm at the Boston Common. The parade route starts from the Boston Common onto Charles Street, left onto Boylston Street, left onto Tremont Street, continuing onto Cambridge Street, ending at City Hall Plaza. Traffic will be detoured from Tremont Street in the vicinity of the Boston Common for a short period of time Wednesday afternoon to accommodate the parade.
Also the following temporary parking restrictions will be in effect as tow zones: Boylston Street -- both sides, from Charles Street South to Tremont Street Tremont Street -- both sides, from Cambridge Street to Boylston Street Cambridge Street -- from the driveway onto City Hall Plaza to Tremont Street

Nov. 12th
A public meeting to discuss the proposed residential project at 48 Boylston St. will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12th from 6:30 to 8 pm. WalkBoston's Downtown Walk and Drinks Event on Nov. 10th
WalkBoston is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and looking at many different aspects of walkability. On Tuesday, Nov. 10th, Downtown Walk and Drinks will take a look at "the little lanes" -- and how Downtown Boston is changing. This event starts at Congress Square (19 Congress St.) at 5:30 pm. From Congress Square the walk will wind its way through Downtown Crossing, finishing the walk with drinks at Jacob Wirth -- the birthplace of WalkBoston. The Boston Redevelopment Authority and the BID are co-hosting this event. This is a free event, click here for more information and to register. |

Learn About Jordan Marsh, Boston's First Department Store on Nov. 10th
Get a sneak peek of author Anthony Sammarco's upcoming book on Jordan Marsh, the first department store in Boston on Tuesday, Nov. 10th at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) at 5:30 pm.
Jordan Marsh was in Downtown Boston where Macy's currently is and offered its customers luxury goods for more than 100 years. See extensive memorabilia from Sammarco's extensive archive documenting the colorful history of the department store. This is co-sponsored by the Victorian Society in America/New England Chapter and the Boston Preservation Alliance. Reception with light refreshments is from 5:30 to 6 pm and the lecture begins at 6 pm. Project STEP FriendRaiser at
Scholars on Nov. 10th
Project STEP, a non-profit music organization that brings classical string training to children in under-represented areas of Boston, is hosting FriendRaiser on Tuesday, Nov. 10th. This event is at Scholars Boston Bistro (25 School St.) from 6 to 8 pm. This is a casual after-work event to raise funds for Project STEP. Tickets are $30 and include a cocktail, appetizers, a short performance from Project STEP's talented students and entry into a raffle for a one-night stay at the Seaport Boston Hotel. There will also be a silent auction including a one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston. |

'So-Um, How Do I Mediate?' Class at Marlo Marketing on Nov. 18th
Ever wonder how to meditate? On Nov. 18th, Andy "Blue Collar Buddha" Kelley will lead "So-Um, How the Hell Do I Meditate?!" at Marlo Marketing (38 Chauncy St. 3rd Floor). This class is free and is from 6 to 7:30 pm. In 2010, Kelley founded The Boston Buddha and now spends his days teaching everyday people how to relax and recharge through meditation. Freedom Trail Historic Holiday Strolls Begin Nov. 19th
The Freedom Trail Foundation's Historic Holiday Stroll, one of the best Boston holiday traditions, is beginning on Nov. 19th. These merry 90-minute tours are led by Dickensian costumed guides leaving from Faneuil Hall Thursdays through Sundays at 3:30 pm. The stroll is complete with a tour of holiday lights and Christmas trees along the Freedom Trail, a visit to the Omni Parker House for signature refreshments. Guests receive discounts off museum store purchases at several Freedom Trail sites. Tickets are $29 for adults, $19 for children, and reservations are required 24 hours in advance. Introducing BPD A-1 New
Community Service Officer Kerri Wells
Boston Police District A-1 has a new community service officer -- Kerri Wells. Wells isn't replacing anyone, as District A-1 is adding another community service officer. "I really like helping the community to make it a great place to live and work," said Wells, who has been on the BPD force for five years and at A-1 for three years. "I am eager to help Downtown Boston continue its growth."

St. Francis House Celebrates 14th Annual
'All The Way Home' Gala Raising $750,000
St. Francis House (39 Boylston St.) hosted its 14th annual All The Way Home Gala on Oct. 28th and raised $750,000. The gala celebrated and raised funds for the House, Boston's largest day shelter in the commonwealth serving more than 600 poor and homeless men and women each day. "At St. Francis House, we believe that homelessness is an experience, not an identity, an we strive to ensure that each person who walks through our doors is offered the support and services they need to succeed," said Karen LaFrazia, executive director of St. Francis House. More than 400 of Boston's most influential leaders, philanthropists, and advocates attended the gala.

Joe Almeida, St. Francis' former chairman of the board and president, and CEO of Covidien, Plc. was honored at the event. The event was co-chaired by Rich Meelia, of Meelia Ventures, and Mike Sheehan, CEO of The Boston Globe. Tim Egan, of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chairman of St. Francis House Board of Directors, was also in attendance. |
Noonan Crowned Fall BID Baggo League Champion After Finishing 2nd in Summer
After finishing second in the summer BID Baggo League, Ed Noonan came back for the fall league determined to win -- and he did on Nov. 3rd. Noonan defeated the summer league champion, Eric Robinson, in a repeat of the inaugural league's final. The Downtown Boston BID Ambassadors provide hospitality services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day, creating a welcoming environment for everyone. BID Ambassadors provide walking escorts all day or night - they'll even tote an umbrella if it's raining or snowing!
