The Downtown Boston BID is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer, this position will be responsible for the financial operation and integrated management and implementation of all programs administered by the BID. The CFO will efficiently oversee a cost-effective and public-spirited operation and possess excellent financial and organizational management skills. WalkBoston's Downtown Walk and Drinks Event on Nov. 10th 

WalkBoston is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and looking at many different aspects of walkability. On Tuesday, Nov. 10thDowntown Walk and Drinks will take a look at "the little lanes" -- and how Downtown Boston is changing. This event starts at Congress Square (19 Congress St.) at 5:30 pm.  

From Congress Square the walk will wind its way through Downtown Crossing, finishing the walk with drinks at Jacob Wirth -- the birthplace of WalkBoston. The Boston Redevelopment Authority and the BID are co-hosting this event. This is a free event, click here for more information and to register.
Learn About Jordan Marsh, Boston's First Department Store on Nov. 10th 

Get a sneak peek of author Anthony Sammarco's upcoming book on Jordan Marsh, the first department store in Boston on Tuesday, Nov. 10th at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.) at 5:30 pm.

Jordan Marsh was in Downtown Boston where Macy's currently is and offered its customers luxury goods for more than 100 years. See extensive memorabilia from Sammarco's extensive archive documenting the colorful history of the department store. This is co-sponsored by the Victorian Society in America/New England Chapter and the Boston Preservation Alliance. Reception with light refreshments is from 5:30 to 6 pm and the lecture begins at 6 pm. Project STEP FriendRaiser at 
Scholars on Nov. 10th

Project STEP, a non-profit music organization that brings classical string training to children in under-represented areas of Boston, is hosting FriendRaiser on Tuesday, Nov. 10th. This event is at Scholars Boston Bistro (25 School St.) from 6 to 8 pm

This is a casual after-work event to raise funds for Project STEP. Tickets are $30 and include a cocktail, appetizers, a short performance from Project STEP's talented students and entry into a raffle for a one-night stay at the Seaport Boston Hotel. There will also be a silent auction including a one-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston.

BID Ambassadors Provide Walking Escorts and Directions 
24 Hours a Day in Downtown 

The Downtown Boston BID Ambassadors provide hospitality services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day, creating a welcoming environment for everyone. BID Ambassadors provide walking escorts all day or night - they'll even tote an umbrella if it's raining or snowing!

Recap: BID Annual Meeting Highlighted by Keynote Speaker Mayor Walsh 

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was the keynote speaker at the BID's annual meeting held at Havas/Arnold Worldwide (10 Summer St.) on Oct. 28th. Walsh started his address by congratulating the BID on its 5th anniversary.

"The BID continues to play an important role in the transformation happening in our downtown corridor," said Mayor Walsh. "I would like to thank everyone from the BID for your dedication to helping downtown realize its fullest potential and for being great partners to our city. We look forward to continuing our important work together."  

Walsh also spoke about the "emerging tech corridor" in Downtown Boston "with more and more startups seeing Downtown Boston as a place to call their home base." He also praised the work of the city's Startup Czar Rory Cuddyer, a BID board member. 
BID Chairman John "Jack" Spurr, Jr., officially welcomed meeting attendees, and spoke about how inclusive and representative the BID is of the Downtown Boston area. He noted the audience included residents, non-profits, property owners and managers, as well as representatives from big and small businesses.

BID President and CEO Rosemarie Sansone 
provided a status report on the work the BID has done during the past year. Sansone highlighted new business openings such as Ogawa Coffee, Roche Bros., Primark, Yvonne's and PAUL Bakery, as well as businesses coming soon like The Godfrey Hotel Boston and Forever 21. She also highlighted physical improvements and enhanced BID services such as the holiday lighting program, new wayfinding kiosks, increased landscaping and expanded snow removal services. 
 
At the meeting BID members voted in four new directors, who take their positions in January. All Dogs Won at the 2nd Annual 
Doggone Halloween Costume Parade 

The BID held its 2nd Annual Doggone Halloween costume parade on Oct. 30th in Downtown Crossing -- and all dogs left as winners! Click here for more photos of the event.

WCVB's Meteorologist Danielle Vollmar, above left, emceed for the second year in a row. The winning dog was Ziggy dressed as a Chia, above right, whose owner won a one-night stay to Nine Zero Hotel, which is pet-friendly. 

Close to 30 dogs came in costumes, and humans, too, as a crowd swelled around the gated area to view the spectacle.

Deadline Nov. 3rd: MBTA Wants You to Pick Exterior Designs for New Subway Cars

The MBTA is holding online voting for the public to select the exterior designs for the new Green, Orange and Red Line cars. Click here to take the survey on a link halfway down the webpage.

Votes will be accepted for two weeks through Tuesday, Nov. 3rdThe first 152 new Orange Line cars are scheduled to be delivered beginning in 2018. The first of 24 new Green Line trolley cars will be delivered in 2017, and the first of 132 new Red Line cars are scheduled to be delivered starting in November 2019.
 
Still Time to Voice Your Opinion on Potential 
MassDOT Transportation Projects

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is holding a series of public community meetings -- Capital Conversations -- to solicit input on potential transportation projects to be included in the agency's upcoming five-year Capital Investment Plan for Fiscal Years 2017-2021.

There are no public meetings scheduled to occur in Boston at present time. But MassDOT is encouraging those who are unable to attend the meetings to join the Capital Conversation online by sharing their ideas by emailing [email protected]. The Avery Bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common (10 Avery St.) recently introduced its new late Fall/Winter Menu by Executive Chef Frank Kassner.

The Braised Shortrib comes with whipped potatoes, seasonal vegetable and a crispy onion. The Poached Lobster, above, comes with roasted delicate squash, cauliflower puree and roasted garlic beurre. Other new menu items include a Cornish Hen and a Rack of Lamb.
