Boston Fashion Week a Huge Success in Downtown Boston

Downtown Boston was the most fashionable place last week thanks to Platform Downtown, a week of curated events for Boston Fashion Week

The BID felt hosting Platform Downtown was important because we wanted to show how we define the role of fashion throughout the city and in our lives. Fashion isn't just for millionaires, it's for everybody, and should be accessible to anyone.
Terri Mahn of thestylistcloset, who produced Platform Downtown, said she wanted to showcase local designers, "Young talent is leaving Boston for New York... we need to work toward fostering and sustaining present and future talent."

"We would like to thank three BID property owners and BID board members for generously offering their space for Platform Downtown," said BID President Rosemarie Sansone. "Stacy Cawley, property manager for Boston Properties (100 Federal St.), Kathy Greenberg, asset manager for Plymouth Rock (99 Bedford St.), and Emily Batchelder, vice president of CBRE-New England (One Boston Place). Downtown Boston was able to showcase our properties, the architecture of the spaces and more, while designers were able to showcase their work."

Local talent like Firas Yousif debuted his 2016 line, above, of more than a score of wedding gowns. Jonathan Joseph Peters also debuted his 2016 collection featuring House of Cach, seen below.

Along with fashion shows, there were other events like The Hand of Fashion, below, that focused on the art and craftsmanship that goes into producing a fashion garment or accessory. Guests got to see artists' work on display in a gallery setting while fashion artisans demonstrated their techniques and answer questions.

The short film "Origin" by Bearwalk Productions also debuted during Platform Boston, which you can watch by clicking here.
What's Your Ailment? Flourish Boston
Helps Through Acupuncture,
Chinese Herbs and Nutrition

Amy Joe (AJ) Accardi's Flourish Boston (10 Milk St. Suite 332) is a one-stop shop to help you feel better and combat what ails you. Accardi utilizes her vast knowledge of being a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and nutritional consultant to address many issues, including digestive issues like IBS, anxiety, chronic fatigue, fertility, shoulder and back pain -- and the list goes on and on.

Accardi starts with a one-hour long consultation to determine what may work best for individual clients. Sometimes it's custom formulas from herbs (she only uses herbs from trusted companies with rigorous testing), acupuncture, cupping and changes to diet. In her soothing smelling office as serene music plays, Accardi will offer you a cup of green tea and work to find a solution to problems such as insomnia, tight muscles, PTSD (she donated her time to help individuals affected by the Boston Marathon bombings).

"The biggest thing is that Flourish Boston does internal medicine to help with PMS, acid reflux, allergies and anything that goes wrong in your body," said Accardi. "You could take medication or come here and take something that is natural and probably healthier." Accardi also created the Cooking Diva website as a platform to offer restorative recipes and health advice outside of her practice.

Flourish Boston office hours are 8 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday. Please click here to make an appointment for an hour-long consultation. Flourish Boston does accept health insurance.

Congratulations! Celebrating 25 Years of the
Post Office Square Garage

Garage parkers and staff of the Post Office Square Garage recently celebrated 25 years of the business. The first day of parking at the garage was October 1st, 1990.

Above left to right: Joe Lanza, garage manager, has worked at the garage since 1992; Stacy Ragucci, administrative assistant; EW Sheets, manager; Pam Messenger, general manager; and Manny Estifanos, facilities manager, has worked at the garage since 1990.

A lot has changed since 1990! Ray Flynn was the mayor of Boston, Michael Dukakis was the governor of Massachusetts. A gallon of unleaded gas was $1.32, a first-class postage stamp was .25 and an MBTA was .75!
