AG Healey Celebrates New Earned Sick Time Law at Irish Famine Memorial

On June 30th, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey celebrated the new Earned Sick Time Time law that officially took effect on July 1st at the Irish Famine Memorial (Walgreens Plaza at School and Washington streets)

"This new law means that one million workers in Massachusetts will no longer be forced to make the difficult choice of working or taking care of a sick family member," said Healey. "I'm proud of Massachusetts' leadership on this issue, and I'm proud of our office's role in helping to implement this new law. Our work, however, is not done and we're holding another round of information sessions to make sure that all businesses have the support they need to successfully implement the law."

According to an AG press release, earned sick time can be used for routine or emergency medical visits, travel time, and to care for an ill family member or to address issues of domestic violence. Massachusetts joined California and Connecticut as the only states with an earned sick time law.

Web-based information sessions about the new law have been scheduled for July 7th at 10 am, July 14th at 2 pm, July 16th at 10 am, July 21st at 2 pm and July 23rd at 10 am. RSVP information will be posted here

Silvertone Bar & Grill and STA:
Dine with Design for Dining Exhibition at Seven Downtown Boston Restaurants

The Design Museum Boston has paired with seven Downtown Boston restaurants for the exhibition "Design for Dining," now open through November 11th. This week we're featuring
(Silverman Trykowski Associates)

The Design for Dining exhibition showcases installations demonstrating how designers shape the dining experience. After STA met with Silvertone's owners they realized the importance of the history at the restaurant, particularly the photos.

"Our idea is to expand on the story-telling, and to create a way to bring the stories of Silvertone's guests into the history and space as well, so we created the 'Family Photo Booth'!" said designer Luis Fernando Araque. "The design takes an existing booth and transforms it with eclectic, bistro and retro elements, while inviting the guests to share their stories and become part of the story."

An oversized ceiling mounted gilded mirror reflects and captures the entire dining experience, and gives diners a chance to take a group photo. Open gilded frames on the wall invite diners to add their own photos, and become part of Silvertone's story.

Order a Photobomb cocktail and have your photo taken with Silvertone's Polaroid camera, or share your photos by using #DMBDining #Silvertone #STADMBDining #FamilyPhotoBooth. (Below is what the area looked like before STA redesigned the table.)

The restaurants were paired-off with seven leading design and architecture firms: Legal Crossing with Bergmeyer AssociatesBONAPITA with Soldier Design; jm Curley with Jaywalk Studio; MAST' with NELSON; The Merchant with Payette; Silvertone Bar & Grill with Silverman Trykowski Associates; and SIP Wine Bar and Kitchen with Gate 3 Design. Each team designed and produced a new dining experience that will pop-up in each restaurant. There will be special menus and drinks that accompany these newly designed experiences from June to November.
