Dine with Design for Dining Exhibition at Seven Downtown Boston Restaurants

The Design Museum Boston has paired with seven Downtown Boston restaurants for the exhibition "Design for Dining," now open through November 11th. This week we're featuring The Merchant with Payette's design.

The Design for Dining exhibition showcases installations demonstrating how designers shape the dining experience.
Payette's concept both engages with the neighborhood and restaurant at large while also redefining the dining experience at a table for six.

Payette incorporated model making and quick prototyping into their iterative process. This allowed to evaluate fabrication techniques, details, and spatial qualities of the design. They started at a scale that considered the dining vignette relative to the restaurant and street front, investigating views and sight lines.

The restaurants were paired-off with seven leading design and architecture firms: Legal Crossing with Bergmeyer AssociatesBONAPITA with Soldier Design; jm Curley with Jaywalk Studio; MAST' with NELSON; The Merchant with Payette; Silvertone Bar & Grill with Silverman Trykowski Associates; and SIP Wine Bar and Kitchen with Gate 3 Design. Each team designed and produced a new dining experience that will pop-up in each restaurant. There will be special menus and drinks that accompany these newly designed experiences from June to November.

Welcome to Downtown Boston,
Marlo Marketing

The BID would like to welcome Marlo Marketing to Downtown Boston at their new digs at 38 Chauncy St. from the Back Bay.

Marlo Fogelman, principal of Marlo Marketing
"What excited me most about Downtown Crossing was that it had a great energy - a luxe vibrancy mixed with a gritty realness - and that really resonated with me," said Marlo Fogelman. "We're known for our integrity and authenticity - two characteristics not often associated with marketing firms - and being in a neighborhood that reinforced those attributes were really attractive to me."

Fogelman began the agency in 2004 with one staff member and four core clients specializing in travel and hospitality. Eleven years later, marlo is now serving international, national and regional clients in eight primary practice areas: cause and non-profit, corporate and business, fashion and beauty, food and beverage, health and wellness, leisure and attractions, restaurants and catering, and travel and destination. Some of Marlo Marketing's clients include The Lawn on D and Downtown Boston's Ogawa Coffee. In 2014, marlo opened a New York City location on Madison Avenue to continue to serve and access its growing roster of national and international clients.
