Stay Warm Inside While Viewing the Griffin Museum Exhibit 'SKY' at Lafayette City Center Passageway

Get out of the cold and stay warm while viewing
"SKY" a new Griffin Museum exhibit on display for free at the Lafayette City Center Passageway (2 Avenue de Lafayette)
"Buoy 2014" by Yorgos Efthymiadis

The following is the curator's statement about the exhibit: "Since ancient times Man has been mesmerized by the sky. It has inspired us. We've written poems and sung about it, and danced by it. Before understanding, we prayed to it and feared it. Life and tragedy spring from it. We measure our goals against it (sky high) and solve problems because of it (blue skying). The possibilities in life are endless because of it (the sky's the limit)." wrote Paula Tognarelli, executive director and curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography. Click here for the full statement and more info about the exhibit.

The Lafayette City Center Passageway links the Downtown Boston Macy's with the Hyatt Regency Boston, and is open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm. This is the fourth exhibit curated by the Griffin Museum at the Passageway. The exhibit is open to the public through April 19th.

Rockland Trust Acquisition Fulfills Long Quest to Serve Boston

With Rockland Trust's $139 million purchase of Peoples Federal Savings Bank on Feb. 20th the Trust now has a foot in the state's economic and cultural capital. And for Rockland Trust's chief executive it's been a long time coming.
Chris Oddleifson, the chief executive of Rockland Trust, said the bank has wanted to be in the Boston market for a long time. (Globe photo by Barry Chin)

"Rockland Trust has been thinking about Boston and doing business in Boston for a very long time, but we just couldn't pull the trigger," said Chris Oddleifson to The Boston Globe. "The acquisitions that we do are the ones that meet our financial-return criteria. Peoples Federal is the one that met our financial criteria - we were able to strike a deal at terms that work for us."

The deal was scheduled to close at the end of Friday, and Rockland Trust signs were expected to go up this past weekend. Including People Federal, Rockland will have 87 branches and nearly $7 billion in assets. The four Peoples Federal branches will be Rockland's first retail locations in Boston.
