Learn About 'Lost Boston' from Author Anthony Sammarco at Old South Meeting House - May 29th

"Lost Boston" is a free event with author and historian Anthony Sammarco, about his book of the same title on Thursday, May 29th, at the Old South Meeting House (310 Washington St.,) starting at 6:30 pm

This event is free and open to the public, with refreshments and book signing to follow. In 1876 the Old South Meeting House almost met its demise when it was dismantled and auctioned off for the value of its parts, when people rallied and saved it. Other historic structures in Boston were not saved, like the original Museum of Fine Arts in Copley Square (pictured), John Hancock's Beacon Hill mansion, and the original Boston Opera House are just a few of the places that have been lost to decline or the wrecker's ball. Sammarco will take a nostalgic journey to a wide range of Boston places that can no longer be seen that are featured in his new book "Lost Boston."

This program is co-sponsored by Old South Meeting House and the Boston Preservation Alliance and made possible with support from the Lowell Institute
