Boston Calling Music Festival at City Hall Plaza - May 23rd through 25th  

The Boston Calling Music Festival is back at City Hall Plaza this weekend for three days of music, food, vendors and more.

Although all two- and three-day admission tickets are sold out, limited single-day tickets are still available. Click here for available tickets.

Attend Capital One 360 Cafe's Appy Hour and Receive a Free Craft Beverage

The Capital One 360 Cafe is hosting an AppyHour to promote local mobile app developers and to give out free craft beverages.

AppyHours (actually noon to 2 pm) will feature a local Boston tech start-up's app, which will be announced through the hashtag #DownloadBoston or through Capital One 360 Cafe's Facebook page. The AppyHour takes place the third week of every month. Anyone who shows cafe staff the downloaded spotlighted app will receive a free craft beverage.

BID Ambassadors Providing Walking Escorts 24 Hours a Day in Downtown 

The Downtown Boston BID Ambassadors provide hospitality services seven days a week, nearly 24 hours a day. BID Ambassadors provide walking escorts all day or night - they'll even tote an umbrella if it's raining!

Bravo! Caff� Nero Opens Its Doors on Washington Street

Caff� Nero opened its doors last Wednesday and customers quickly embraced the cafe's European flavor. 

A traditional Italian cafe, Caff� Nero roasts its coffee at its own roastery in Italy. The cafe offers hot and cold drinks, breakfast and lunch options, WiFi service, and several cozy armchairs and couches at which customers can sit down. 
Caff� Nero is located at 560 Washington St., and can be emailed at [email protected]. Its hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, 7 am to 9:30 pm.
Dancing Encouraged! Debut of the Downtown Boston Dixie Band 

The Downtown Boston Dixie Band made its debut this past week, and pedestrians in downtown responded enthusiastically--some were even spotted dancing as the band played (see the bottom image)!

The four-piece strolling band performs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 2 pm. They circulate throughout the downtown area, stopping and playing at visible locations.  

The Dixie Band welcomes requests--and don't be afraid to start dancing if the spirit moves you!   
Can't Get to Post Office? Don't Forget About the Mail Truck on Summer Street 

If you don't have time to get to the post office, don't forget that there are two U.S. Post Office mail trucks on the streets of downtown selling stamps, accepting mail, and making your life a little easier.

A USPS truck is stationed in front of Macy's Chauncy Street entrance on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8 am to 1:30 pm
 
"The neighborhood businesses love us," said Harvey Zack, from inside the mail truck. Zack said the trucks offer all USPS services except money orders, registered mail, and international package shipping. A second mail truck is stationed at 100 Franklin St. five days a week, offering the same services.

No Dewey Square Block Party This Week - Returning May 29th with The Non-plussed   

The Boston Calling Block Party Series at Dewey Square will take one week off as the team gets ready for the Boston Calling Music Festival taking place May 23rd through the 25th. The next block party will be on May 29th and will feature music by The Non-plussed.

Crash Line Productions, in partnership with the

Downtown Boston Business Improvement District (BID) and The Rose Kennedy Greenway, are co-hosting the 2014 Boston Calling Block Party series. The parties are held (mostly) every Thursday from 5-8 pm in Dewey Square, directly across from South Station.

Pepe Portilla Performing at Berklee Performances Series This Week, Next Week is Henry Castro  

The Berklee Performances Series, featuring students from the Berklee College of Music, takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is perfect way to spend your lunch break.

The market has a new location (125 Summer St.) this year due to construction on upper Summer Street. 
The market features original artwork from local artisans on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 am to 6 pm.  
Haitian Heritage Month Celebration at the Irish International Immigrant Center 

The Irish International Immigrant Center (IIIC) is celebrating Haitian Heritage Month on Wednesday, May 28th, with dancing, food, and activities.

There will be compa dancing lessons, Haitian-Creole language activities, trivia, and more fun events. Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Johanne at [email protected] or 617-542-7654 x13. The event is from 4 to 7 pm.

'Godzilla' Returns: Latest Adaptation
Now Playing At AMC Loews  

Get ready for the latest "create feature"! The latest version of "Godzilla" is back in theaters and is now playing at the AMC Loews Boston Common.

 
Starring Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad" fame (above left), the movie is drawing raves for its new and suspenseful take on the classic giant monster tale. The film is playing on three screens (one of them IMAX 3D), with daily screenings starting at 11:15 am and running through 11:15 pm.
